Hi all, what's involved to having a car imported from Germany to Belgium? Taxes, warranty, etc. Jurgen
It is easy! The car must be older than 6 months and/or have more than 6000km. Otherwise you have to pay extra tax. Bring your car to customs. They fill out a form. Get an insurance seal and stick it on this form. After that go to the inspectionstation for inspection. Bring the official papers (fahrzeugbrief, abmeldungsbescheinigung). Then send the whole package to the DIV in Brussels. Of course you will have to pay the IVB, but that is for every car in Belgium. The IVB lowers with the age of the car.
About the same system here... I bought 1,5 years ago a Boxster S from 2001 in Germany. Had to pay 6.600,00 duties to the state due to our lovely car tax. (taxfree price + 24% + 19% vat of the taxfree price = new car price NL)
In Belgium it would be the same WITHOUT the BPM tax of 6.600 euro! Still want to know why I moved to Belgium?
O.K. I give up, can`t beat the Benelux-power-pack Good night, sleep well, wet dreams & CU tomorrow. wolfgang
