As the title says... Has anyone done something like this? What was the process and what companies did you use? I have a seller of a fiberglass body which i'd like to import, who is willing to sell, but they will not deliver or do any of the shipping leg work (understandable). So, I need a company which is reputable and can do the leg work for me and bring it to customs in the U.S.

I had a freind do it thru a dealer. The "but" is it was done along time ago about 2003 so things may change.

Then you had to have the car "federlized". The exhaust had to be improved to meet US EPA standards. In the day it was expensive $25k as I remember it. The parts for the European speced cars could not be bought in the USA. Safety regulations as I remember it.

But to be honest this may have changed now and maybe they have the same regulations. I would talk to a dealer for the car you are bringing in to get a better and updated idea.

If you are thinking of a car that it not sold in your country, I would contact your DMV and get hold of the "vehicle compliance officer". I did this with a car that did not have a vin number and was only offered by the manufacturer with a "MDO". The compliance officer looks at your car an issues a VIN number if the car is legal. I found it to be easy and painless. I did in in 2006.

    Good luck :)
