Hey Martin, A buddy is trying to get a old Lotus shipped from Switzerland, via Rotterdam. Are there any folks you can reccomend to get the car to Rotterdam. Any help would be appreciated.

Seams as the car has to pass through many different countries there are some possible hiccups(each country has a differnt set of laws concerning transport) and the car does not run at the moment.

    Thank you.

have different requirements for importation? Since it wouldn't be licensed for street use and as long as the title work is in order, what would the government care? Could you imagine Colin Chapman trying to fit 5 MPH bumbers on an 11?

you'd be suprised! the DOT want's proof that the manufacture intended the car to be raced and built it has a race car, if the manufacture did not build it specificly as a race car than you'll need to get the build and modification information from the builder, you'll also need to prove it is and has been raced and that the driver was licensed to race by a sanctioning body. it can be more difficult to import a race car then a street car, the DOT wants to make damn sure you don't convert it bac kto street trim or that you don't drive it on the street. i was just reading a bout the hassles another importer is going through with a F355 race car and it has spent a yr in customs so far. i'll see if i can dig up a link. not to diswade you but it can be time consuming and expensive, most times you'll need a lawer who deals with this. customs also is involved.

Sorry the car I was speaking of is a street car, not a race car. He is hearing you need to have all kinds of paperwork to move through each country trailering a car.
