Has anyone ever imported a Ferrari from Dubai or the Middle East? If so, what did it take to register the car in the US? If anyone knows anything about the process in general please comment.

I know of a CS from Dubai that was brought in. Since Dubai spec cars are US spec and have a US VIN, the process is straight forward, with no modifications necessary. There is a 2.5% duty, plus your shipping.

The only challenge is finding cars that haven't been neglected.

you need to figure out what the vin is and what year it is.

Many Ferraris are allowed to be imported into the states. You will have to do some research

    start here

    http://www.nhtsa.gov/cars/rules/import/elig101012c.pdf

Check and see what shipping will be along with the duty costs and then see if you will be saving any money.

Even cars that meet the above still need to go through a broker if they are not US spec cars.

I don't see how any car coming back this way from Dubai wouldn't have been neglected that's why makes them "cheap"

Conditions in Dubai must be far harsher than nearly any place in the states.

Make sure it gets a through PPI, BEFORE going through the hoops.

I've look many times at cars in Dubai, and have to disagree that Dubai-spec cars are US Spec.

The VAST majority are Euro spec, with a 'B' in the VIN where there would be an 'A' for US Spec cars.

I am ignorant of the spec's yet I would also think they are Euro spec cars thus non-compliant with US regulations. Also I agree with Ingenere that finding a non-abused example from that region may be difficult .

Your in good hands here because the knowledge you can get is great. Good luck with your quest and if I may ask what model are you looking at? It would be advantageous of you if you could provide more specific details simply because of the "brain trust" of knowledge here.
