I am considering taking my Ferrari Portofino to Dubai. Has anybody got any advice on things that I should be thinking about in order to do this? One of the main things that I am interested in is whether or not I need to make any engine modifications. Many of the things that I have read online suggest that Ferraris, at least almost modern Ferraris, are all made to more or less the same engine specification. But I want to be sure that this is the case.

LHD/RHD ? Probably better off selling your UK car and buying one locally

Its a right hand drive. Been trying to sell it in the UK for a few months, but I dont think the market is best for selling this type of car at the moment

I heard somewhere, that RHD cars are illegal to drive in Dubai, but I can't confirm that 100%. However, I would love to hear more info about importing a car from anywhere in Europe to Dubai.

Hi, anyone has experience with imported Japanese specs Ferrari in UAE? Specifically Portofino.
Looks like the specs are basically European specs, but the infotainment is somehow different: radio frequency is limited in Japanese imported cars, gps is not working and there is this strange antenna for the Japanese ETC toll system fixed on the car dashboard.
Do you need to totally replace the infotainment system or it can be set up somehow to work in GCC. And this ETC antenna can be removed ?
If anyone has any experience about this I would be grateful if can share some information. Thanks

RHD is virtually impossible to register. Besides, once your car has some Dubai history in its past, the value will plummet.

A Japanese car (LHD) has no issues being registered in Dubai. My Mercedes e class came from Japan. There are lots of local specialists who can remove Japanese equipment for tolls, infotainment, etc.

Ferraris are dirt cheap in Dubai. Better to sell in UK regardless of price and purchase a GCC spec car in Dubai. In addition any imported car is going to incur 5% tariff (might be higher now) I've brought a couple of US spec cars to dubai in the past only because my employer was picking up the tab. No issues encountered but there was a 5% tariff and then when trying to sell in Dubai a USA spec car will be valued at least 20% less than a GCC car. Euro or Japanese spec cars are about the same. They will sell at least 20% below a GCC spec car.
