Gents (and any ladies), I'd need to remove my driver's side lock, but cannot figure out how to do it! Looking from the inside of the door, you can see an adjustable rod that's vertical, and which connects to the lock barrel/mechanism via some kind of white nylon clip thing. Question is, how is the nylon clip thing attached to the lock? Is it a push fit? I don't want to pry it too hard for gear of breaking the nylon. Thanks guys. This has been confounding me for ages.
Just pull the rod out of the Nylon thingie.. (Pull hard) Make sure you rotate the clip out of the way. (if there is a clip.)
That doesn't seem to be how this particular rod works. It's threaded at both ends, and the threaded part is screwed through the nylon clips (one at each end). The nylon clip is then attached directly to the inside of the lock barrel. It's very hard to describe the configuration, but anybody who has done this before will know exactly what I'm talking about. Yep, a 1977 308. I haven't removed the inner handle, but I'll do so. But then what? I've scratched my head wondering how big a job this might be. All I want to do is disconnect the rod (part # 7) from the lock. Very few of these jobs are easy on a 308 are they?!
Just use a flat blade screw driver as a lever between the nylon block and the lock. Carefully pry and it will 'pop' off. There are several other places where this same configuration exists on your door. If you are cautious type, try the approach on a different area first. Mmnn, Ok there are several places on the 308GT4, perhaps only that one place on a GTS/GTB. Basically there is a ball that press fits into a hole in the nylon block. Gerrit http://dino308gt4.com
