Do you think there will be an improved exhaust for the 296 instead of the original?

I’m excited to find out how it will sound with an aftermarket one! But I’m worried that it might be more complicated than usual to install one.

I think it will become more and more difficult as it appears the EU is pushing to kill the tuners

Novitec's system seems to be in development. They've been dealing with GPF exhausts for years now so the technology is quite mature. Works fine on SF90, F8, 812 etc.. I have no doubt it will be unbelievable considering how good the car sounds out the box...

I don’t think the challenge is with the GPF but more so with altering the power curve due to the change in airflow. My 812 actually lat power with my aftermarket exhaust (no tune) but I’m living with it (sound > power).

The 296 power delivery however is much more complicated because of the turbos + electric motor, I’m fearing it won’t simply be a loss of power but also a worse, funkier power curve that ruins the driving experience. And a simply tune doesn’t always address the problem.

Did you dyno the car pre & post?

You may have experienced a loss in scavenging at low RPM due to lower backpressure (this would manifest itself as a loss of torque) and confused it with a loss of power overall. I'd venture that your car did lose some low end torque, but gained top end power. This was a very common issue with the Tubi F50 systems, for example.

I'd be absolutely shocked if installing high flow cats/catalyst replacement pipes resulted in a lower power output overall - mechanically I can't make sense of that in my head, but I'm happy to be educated!

No but I tested my 100-200kph a few times and it went from ~5.4s stock to ~5.9s with the exhaust. A noticeable difference.

Staggering! I'd definitely get it dyno'd - a change like that would require a huge change in power

Could be a difference in temp. Dyno won't tell you anything unless you have a baseline pre exhaust under similar conditions.
