Hi everyone, I thought I'd share some latest "improvements" on making our GT4 last a long time:

Fact is, the car has great visibility for a mid-engine four-seater. However, I still managed to ding it while backing up in an industrial site thanks to a horizontal protruding bar. So, to prevent this from happening too often, I went ahead and tried to install one of those rear-view cameras and wire it to an LCD mirror. I'll let you be the judge of whether it's acceptable or not, but it's entirely reversible, so no long-term harm done!

I drilled a small hole in the metal just between the two licence plate lights to hold the camera and ran the wires along the same route as the lights.

Then, I 3D-printed an exact replica of the light holder, but with a recess for the camera:

In the tunnel, I connected the reversing lights to the same fuse as the rear defrost (the lights are now LEDs) and ran a wire from the reverse switch on the shifter to the mirror, along with the signal from the camera. The camera and mirror automatically switch on when engaging reverse and provide a better view of what's below the trunk line:

It all works pretty well and, appart from running the wiring, not too difficult to install!

Very cool on the 3D print - I am just getting into scanning and printing. They will honestly be the main technologies to keep our cars going for decades. Super cool work!
