Well guys, after a year and half of owning my 355 gts, I MIGHT be trading it in for somethng a little more everday driver/girl friend friendly.

The prospects: Mase Gransport, 996 Turbo and ......gasp..... C6 Z06.

There's a certain affinity between me and the car. I know that any of the 3 cars above will be cheaper to operate on the long run (esp the way I drive.) Even knowing that, I'm finding it hard to actually convince myself to let it go. One of the main reason... just dropped $20K for a major, water pump, tubi headers and tubi exhaust 2K miles ago. THe other reason.... ITS A FERRARI!

Finding a Gransport locally is proving to be difficult; same with the 996tt. I went in to a local chevy dealer, because im a friend of a friend, I can order an 09 Z06 for under MSRP. Only draw back, they will not let me test drive one (EVEN THE USED ONE!) I know for a fact I would be able to test drive the Maserati or Porsche should I find one. I was able to test drive my 355 before buying it. But not a corvette. go figure. But i digress.

    Thoughts?

This would be a hard decision, even if the major had not just been done. I had an 07 Gransport for 2 weeks as a loaner, they are a great car, but they are not a Ferrari, and the feeling when I got back into my 355 (straight out of the Gransport) was one of pure pleasure, so don't expect the Gransport to be as exciting to drive, you don't feel the passion like while driving a Ferrari. But your situation is one of the reason's Ferrari's are available second hand, if you need to move on at this point, there is no reason you can't come back when it suits you more. Good luck in what ever you decide. :)

I will never buy another Maser in my life. Bad dealer experiences and bad resale along with bad reliability.

Corvette Z06 isn't going to be any more GF friendly than the Ferrari. The 996TT is about the best of the bunch if you are considering the fairer sex's comfort and appeal. I have one and the wife far prefers that to my 348. It's like a really fast Honda. Not very exciting for me to drive, but it is a competent performer. I do need to sell mine pretty quick and it might fit your needs. Still, I don't think I could live with myself if I knew it replaced a 355.

Goth, no man should sell a 355 for a 996TT and no true Brother is going to sell his 996TT knowing it replaces the 355.

I've had two 01 996 TT silver and black. I've sold the silver with 56k and still have the black with 25k miles. If you want a high performance sports car and use for DD, hands down the 996 TT is king!. I used it for Autocross, DE, Rallys and ride to the supermarket..
    Porsche their is no substitute.

This is actually more right than jest. Goth knows cuz he, like me, strayed to the Porsche side and came back to Ferrari. If oyu can only have a single car and you want the GF to ride in it without the drama (car too low, ride too harsh, where's the make-up mirror?, etc.), then I guess the 996TT is for you. And I wish you luck.

I had a AM V8 and it was a great car. Styling, performance, reliability were spot on. Go for it!

Never, ever. I said never, ever. Did you hear me? Never sell your car because the gf doesn't like it. You will regret it down the road. If YOU want another car, that's fine. But if the reason behind this is the girl, don't do it. If you do, and she moves on..... where will you be? Remember, this is YOUR car..... and your source of fun.

    Thanks guys.

The more I think about parting with the f355, the more I think I can't do it. I've been making some phone calls. A friend is letting me borrow his c6 for the weekend. I'm thinking that ill keep the ferrari and wait a year. Maybe next summer I will buy something to go aside of the ferrari. I figure by next summer, I will be able to buy an 05 C6 (non z06) for $35Kish.

Im just so confused with these conflicting feelings.

    What he said.

Keep the 355, and add a C6 Z06 to the garage. Actually I would really consider one of the the new Nissan GTRs. I saw it at the Los Angeles International Auto Show and liked it a whole lot. Plus it is getting very good reviews.

GET A NEW GF! A new GF is way easier to find than a good 355.

I am currently without Ferrari and it is killing me. I'm eyeing 360's and 355 coupes but geez it is hard to beat the value and the hotrod ability of the 348. I think the 348 is the most hotrodable ferrari ever built.
