So I received an email from IMSA.com this morning giving me a "Tune-In Alert" about today's Ferrari Challenge race.

Wouldn't it make more sense, as a method for attracting a broader audience, to air this (and other IMSA races) on more accessible tv channels (i.e. non-premium)?

The business model to "pay extra for everything" is running out of steam... for me anyway.

If I were a die-hard motorsports fan then yes, I'd happily pay whatever it takes ($200+ per month).

Anyone know a better way to catch these events on TV?

BTW, the race is this evening at 10PM E and the email link goes here:

Is that in addition to the basic plan? Or is that your total price which includes Fox Sports 2?

Agreed. I will happyly pay for live streaming or post race access to all video feeds, just I like to do with MotoGP. That's the right business model IMO.

    Great idea!

Right now the only way I can get Fox Sports 2 is by purchasing the Sports Pass from Brighthouse. Are motorsports fans really interested in any of these? Why don't they package appropriately?

FS2 isn't HD (for me at least), another reason not to pay for the channel. but buying live streaming video of all camera feeds is pay for. IMSA should do that (their corporate parent does... ;))

    Wade,
The sports-package upgrade for BrightHouse is only $10. With that, I think you also get Velocity, in addition to FS2.

Yes, thanks Kevin. But then the best one can do is actually pay $200 just to get that channel i.e. bundled phone, internet, plus basic cable which includes Premier channels (not premium). In addition, the cable box is needed to enable the HD channels. Velocity is offered with basic, along with a handful of channels that I watch:

Discovery, A&E, History, Travel Channel, Science, Military Channel, Nat Geo & H2

Was there in person Saturday of the Rolex and just watched this last night (AT&T Uverse Fox2) at 10pm. Pretty good coverage.

A few wrecks by the gentlemen racers.

Hopefully they will get the bugs ironed out for the remainder of the season.
F of Ft. Lauderdale had a few cars sustain damage, no driver injuries reported.

Hopefully they can get the cars but up to spec before the next race.

I didn't see anything major damage wise. Most cars were still moving under their own power after their bumps and either got stuck or trapped on debris if they were towed. Decent coverage and nice to watch the cars. Didn't look like a single mechanical failure.
