I don't get out to F-Chat as much as I'd like, but had a question and thought this might be the best place to start.

Anybody know of a reputable place that installs/sells in-car camera mounts? We were at VIR a few weeks ago with the SCCA/Z-club and a friend of mine had one mounted in his 1970 240Z. We watched the tape at the hotel and it was a great way to review the track layout and run sessions.

I'm in the Summerfield, NC area, so if anybody is familiar with any places close by, I would appreciate it.

    Thanks,
    Kevin N.

Are you looking for a roll bar mount/suction cup mount/harness bar mount??? There are quite a few options. I have a harness bar& mount for a e36 bmw and I also have a suction cup mount from stickypod.com, look at chasecam.com as well.

I'm going to buy a brey-krause boxster specific mount today. It is designed just for my boxsters factory roll bar without scratching it.

    Jeremy,
Thanks for the info. I wouldn't be able to use the roll bar or harness bar mounts, since neither is installed in the car. The suction cup would be interesting, as long as it stays in place on the track! Plus it would prevent having to install some sort of mount in the car. I'll check the websites you mentioned and see what I come up with.
    Thanks!

or do a google on "headrest video camera mount"...you will find tons of them...or just build your own. I did this in my old track car.

Did you forget about me. I have them in stock. Just e-mail or call.

We use them for the many police car / bus video systems that we sell all over the Country.

As a manufacturer of Video Security products I have many video accessories available to my friends. Just don't tell any of our re-sellers.

If he's got them, they're either not on his website or they're buried too deep to find easily...

The mount is not listed as it is not a standard piece used in daily applications. We incorporate it in police car and bus systems that we design and supply.

I thought of using one at last years VIR event but I was not sure if they would allow me on the track with it. I know it is safe and secure but I was concerned that the track people would not like seeing something attached to the inside windshield.

Remember the police cars travel at high speeds and have nor problems.

I will try and post a specification or photo soon. I have some meeting this morning outside the office.

Yes, it is likely it would not be allowed at some track events. The "clamp on" headrest post mounts seem to always be accepted, though.
