    Hey guys,
you've never seen me in the Arizona thread before, but i have a predicament. Maybe someone can help. I posted the same thing in the Canada section.

I have not been on the board in a while, but for car related advice, no matter the marque, this always seems to be the most knowledgeable(?) source! I'm pretty sure i goofed big time here. Any advice on the best way to proceed would be extremely helpful.

I was in Arizona this summer. There i "bought" a 2004 Honda Accord EX off my boss. Never got around to the paperwork. So essentially right now he has the money and i have driven the car here to Montreal. Turns out that he bought the car off a friend, but never changed the title over. So he wants to switch the title to my name from his friend (which his frind has no problem with) and thinks that everything will be fine. The car is already here, but obviously not legally imported. I suppose i entered Canada as a visitor. Customs agent knew I was a Canadian driving an US plated car but let me pass no problem.

The issue is not that i'm worried about not hearing from my boss. I trust him. this is simply a matter of what i need to do to get this car in my name. I would like to know if there is a way to have the registration put into my name even though neither the car nor i remain in Arizona. Or am I screwed...? :S

    Help!,
    Chris

    Chris,
This should not be a problem. Basically what you have here is a third party sale. The Title must be signed off by the original owner and noterized.
Once this is done all the original owner has to do is send it to you. If your boss has the title in his possession with this already done just have him send it to you and all you have to do is put your name on it. The hiccup here is if your bosses name has already been filled in on the back of the title. If that's the case he must transfer the title in his name and get a "title only" and then sign it off and have it noterized. once you get the signed and noterized title you should be able to go through your local registration process. I'm assuming this car already has an Arizona title.
    Good luck.

To add to this.....if the "boss" has already written his name and info on the title, it is not needed for him to put a title only in his name for it. He can do a ADOT Power of Attorney with the vehicle info on it, have that notarized and you are then all set.

If you need further info on this, email me with contact info and I can call you regarding it. You can find the ADOT PofA here http://mvd.azdot.gov/mvd/formsandpub/viewPDF.aspx?lngProductKey=1315&lngFormInfoKey=1315
