Last year, my wife and I were in Italy for 3 weeks and spent 4 wonderful days in Maranello. I'm headed to Israel in the couple of weeks and my flights go through Milan. I've held over my return flight in Milan for 24 hours so I can at least visit the city. Is there anything Ferrari / Lamborghini / automobile related in Milan?

My hotel is just down the street from "the" Duomo in the center of Milan.

The Alfa Romeo museum is located in Aresse (SP?) which is only a few km from Milan. Details on hours and such can be found on the Alfa factory site.

Try "Libreria dell`Automobile" at Corso Venezia ( behind Piazza del Duomo ) : there are no cars but a lot of books and magazines on cars.

If you are a bit adventurous you could make a trip to Rossa Corsa the local Ferrari/Maserati dealer. They have a pretty nice collection w/ a few vintage sports racers, and many collector vintage road cars that they house for other owners. The shop owner is quite a gentleman and also makes some nice wines bearing the Rossa Corso label. At this store I saw a dozen Q-porte's lined up which helped me pick the color for my new Maser.

Don't remember the name of the 'burb of Milan, but it is worth the trip.
