Hello guys, I am posting on behalf of my cousin who is a 3200GT owner. His love for the car is like nothing I have seen. Not even by us 355 nutheads.
So, his car over 2k rpm just does not respond, two mechanics have diagnosed this as being a Throttle Body malfunction.

I did a quick search, and read that there are Alfa Romeo parts that are an exact fit. Is this true? Part numbers please?

Also, I have been green lit to search for new/great condition throttle bodies. Let me know please, as I always deal with Daniel at Ricambi but unfortunately he does not source 3200GT parts.
Eurospares has it as part number 585064604.

    That is an expensive part.

You could call Eurospares and ask them if they have a used one! They have several 3200GT's that they are breaking down.

If your friend is in the US, it will be hard to find one there, since the 3200GT/GTA model was never sold there. If Eurospares is no help, you could try Campana in Italy (official service in Modena, as well as parts distributor, and they are expensive!).

Word of advice: If you friend is interested in keeping his 3200 for long term use, then I suggest he buys another 3200 for spare parts. Why? Because Maserati has stopped ALL parts production for the 3200 and so from now on it is going to get REALLY hard to find spare parts. Since a used 3200 can be bought for peanuts, then it is a good investment to buy one and use it for spare parts for your main car.

Thanks, but no he is in Kuwait.
    I will contact Eurospares now.

    Question:

    1. can these things be rebuilt?

    2. More importantly, any truth or success stories that an Alfa Romeo for a fraction of cost fits and works perfectly?

    1. Everything can be rebuilt, but the quality and reliability of the part after a rebuilt is... ermm... questionable at best. I am sure all mechanics think that they are the best mechanics that ever lived in the face of the earth and they can easily do a rebuilt, and all of them claim that they can do it better than the factory. God knows what you are getting into...

    2. Yes, we have seen many Alfa parts which are interchangeable between the two brands, for example, my GranSport F1 Relay (part #155437) is the same like the ones used by Alfa for their Selespeed Relay. Unfortunately, I don't know if your throttle body is similar.

I also think that you should contact the Maserati UK forum (http://www.maseratiforum.co.uk/) because there a lot more people there with 3200GT/GTA cars than in here.
