When I got my 360 the oem rotors were not only a bit worn, but had developed all the hairline cracks that drilled rotors are wont to do. I searched the sponsors here and talked with lots of vendors about their products. I finally chose Girodisc, for two reasons.
First being the old value/cost conumdrum. Their product is not only very high quality, but also very fairly priced. Not only could I replace all 4 rotors for the cost of two oem discs, they are of superior quality. The two piece compostion ensures that only the discs have to be replaced next time and not the whole set up, further saving money down the road(so to speak!).
AND, they weigh 4lbs less per corner, meaning 16lbs of unsprung weight savings.
Of course the most important aspect is the performance. Combined with the Porterfield R4S pads, the combination has provided silent and very efficient braking now for several thousand miles. In fact, there have been several occassions where the balance and quickness this lighter system affords have saved my a$$ from a potential problem.
Oh, and the second reason I chose Girodisc, is the owner Martin. Great guy, very helpful, knowledgeable and patient.
So, I just wanted to put it out there for my fellow fchatters, cool family owned company with great service and a great product. And of course the fact that he offers a similar product(from my research) to brembo at a very significant discount does not hurt the equation at all.

Thanks for the good word John, glad to hear the brakes are working out well for you. It was nice to meet you at Concorso this year and we look forward to helping you again in the future.

Now the tourists are off the roads up there, you should be able to get the rotors good and hot ;-)

Are there two different types available? The ones on John's car are drilled while the set on the website are slotted. Which is better?

Willis, slotted are better according to Martin. Many say that with modern pads the gasses that build up are no longer an issue and slotted work the best, esp. under track conditions, and last the longest. Drilled though remain the set up for most high end cars and some say work the best. I did not figure to be tracking the car more than a couple of times a year, if that, as I have a better track car. Maybe Martin will also respond, as he suggests slotted as the way to go.

Martin, it was good to meet after all the talking and my I wish you the best in growing your business.

It looks great, and the 2 piece rotors are definitely great to have.
Who are the rotors made by? I'm wondering if these come heat treated, and/or zinc plated to remove rust. The wheels get a ring of rust from water dripping out of the rotors. In the process of looking for new rears, but not sure if i'll put AP's in the rear too.

Hey Rob, Nothing from Martin yet? Ill get all over him.
I am in Japan right now or id kick him in the butt personally.
I know we have what you need.

A Montoya, the Girodisc rotors are zinc plated. Only the friction surface will be bare iron after use. The rest of the rotor retains the zinc and will not rust. Heat treating is optional, and is recommended for cars that will see significant track time. The 360 line has also been updated to the new floating pin hardware with spring loaded pins for quiet use. Considering the cost of the rotors form a dealer, these are an easy way to have a lighter (2.3 lb per rotor), better performing, and less expensive rotor.

    Hi Gary,
My understanding is that the base iron-rotor system for the 430 is the same as the 360. I will get in touch with some Ferrari and Brembo contacts to try to confirm this.

If it is the case, then our 360 rotor set is ready for the 430 as well.

    Eric
