Hi guys! I've been lurking here for a few years but never posted. A couple months ago I tried to buy a 308 GT4 that ended up being a scam. I'm just wondering if the owner is here or if anyone has any information. 1975 308 GT4, VIN 10355. Has anyone ever seen this car? Interesting.....according the Ferrari of Beverly Hills registry, 10355 is a 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB/4-GD (not sure what the "GD" represents), so some kind of pho carrie is going on with the chassis plate and frame stamping. - Dave
Undoubtedly a scam. There's no 308 GT4 with an odd-numbered chassis. I feel like I've seen that one before and sent a lot of questions and never received a response. It would be real easy to Photoshop those number changes. Now I want to know which car it really is! GD stands for "Guida di Dextra" (Right hand drive).
When you need fake pics for a scam ad, it's real easy to do. Just changed mine: Image Unavailable, Please Login
Aaacck! My eyes! What a weird extension on the shift lever -- those seat bottoms must be really high or something.
Good day all, Looking at one of the Dino 308 GT4 sites, indeed, no odd serial numbers are listed... it goes from 10354 to 10356 https://www.dino-gt4-registry.com/Reg-1975.htm Cheers, Sam
If you look close at the photos with chassis numbers, you can see that both 5s on the door plate have the same little "dot" next to them near the open circle portion of the number, and that both 5s on the bar in the engine compartment have the exact same "wear" marks. It just means the original serial number was 10350, 10352, 10354, 10356, or 10358. I figured it was 10350 as it's the only one in that range known to be red with black interior. So I searched for that, and sure enough, found it: https://www.survivor-cars.com/vehicles/292/1975-ferrari-308-gt4 https://www.classic.com/veh/1975-ferrari-308-gt4-10350-pgXlNw4/?tab=comps I've added it my register… https://308gt4.com/1975-chassis/
Thanks Chris. Figured the "GD" was probably somehow related to it being RHD since it was imported by the UK's Maranello Concessionaires. As far as the pics go, I'm pretty familiar with most of the digital tricks, but the way the Date and Chassis Numbers were manipulated - if they were digitally manipulated - definitely took some skill. - Dave
It took me about two seconds to manipulate my image. For folks who know how to use Photoshop well (which I do), it's real, real easy to manipulate stuff like that and have it look 100% real. I've done a lot of photo enhancements for friends, like removing background objects so it doesn't detract from their cars.
Barchetta lists 10355 as a 275gtb/4 as well, sadly they don't have a picture so I can't see if a 308 GT4 looks the same as a 275GTB/4.
The seller was insistent on a 25% deposit & they would ship. Instead I got a cashiers check & drove there. Ended up being the maintenance shed at a community college. In hind sight there were several red flags, but the want was strong.
I found that listing after the fact, & assumed it was another scam site. I was going to stop by when I was in Sebring at a race, but time didn't permit. Thanks for the intel.
I certainly understand the "desire" and "want" for one of these! Definitely be careful out there and don't let it blind your judgement, there's all sorts of scams. A few years back there was a yellow one that had sold on BAT for $36,000 (this was in 2020). I was in the market, but didn't win that auction. Just a couple of months later I found the same car for sale again on some other site listed for $30,000. I contacted the buyer via BAT (by tagging him in a comment on the BAT auction) and asked if he was selling the car. He was not! I sent him the link, but never heard anything else on it.

I was kinda hoping the owner was here & wanted to sell it. Still on the hunt for the ugliest one without provenance.
I love that you know what you want. Even the ugly ones deserve love too! I'll keep my eyes and ears open.
Yeah, it happens all the time. I remember a 308GTB offered on Ebay, great looking car with some nice photos with palm trees in the background and someone on this forum asked about it since it was listed as located in Boston. Someone here recognized the car, knew the owner and asked if it was for sale, it was not. That was at least 20 years ago. It's getting to the point that one has to initially consider an ad as a scam and work backwards toward legit. A sad state of affairs.
