Yeah, you don't need a big brake kit man. haha.

So, post a pic of your engine bay, we'll be able to tell in two seconds if you have an earlier Motronic 2.5 car or a later Motronic 2.7 car.

It'd have to be a super early 1990 for that....the majority of the 2.5 cars are 89s.

2.5 or 2.7 isn’t hard to figure out but having or not having the exhaust ECU is something I wasn’t aware changed during the production run. Lots to learn with this car for sure.

Don’t take this the wrong way but how do you know what brakes set up I need?
And besides that it’s not what’s needed, but loosing weight , increasing thermal capacity and improving feel and looks is more than enough for me. I’m mainly sucker for light weight parts. 1990 brakes don’t impress me much. I didn’t need to do all this to my 911 either but what fun is it stock?

They both have exhaust ECUs, it's just that the 2.5 exhaust ECUs aren't hooked up to the Motronic ECUs (so no fault code generated, only SLOW DOWN lights).

Oh good to get a little clarification on that, thank you. So can you just unplug the units to eliminate any chance of them causing issues?
I need to pull the codes again and make sure I read them correctly. I’ll also try swapping the plugs and see if the fault goes to the other bank of cylinders.

For the F348 2.7, you will get no lights (SDL or CEL) but a code.

    What code are you getting?

I unplugged them, I’ll drive it and put see if it throws another cylinder 1-4 light today.
I plan on replacing the cats also, either test pipes or some 200cl units. I haven’t decided. I really don’t like the smell going catless so I’ll probably end up with some high flow cats.

I de catted both my Lotus and my M3, the smell sucks. I think I’ll go catted on this one, who does everybody like to use these days? I have a Tubi tear can.

You will lose most unsprung and rotating mass by swapping OEM mega heavy wheels.

Girodisc then provides lightweight discs, at least for front. TAROX has "big break kit" for 348 but that is based on my understanding single piece heavy stuff.

The at least OEM ATE calibers are pretty low in weight, I am not sure about OEM Brembo weight, though. Slap some hi-perf EBC / Ferodo pads and see if it enough for you.

And of course, remember titanium wheel bolts!! ;)

I have some challenge wheels being refurbished in white right now. And a set of Yokohama A052s waiting to get mounted.

I haven’t decided on brakes yet, I would have ordered the Stoptech setup but I’m having a hard time getting ahold of them.

The front lip on my car had been previously repaired by the PO and it wasn’t that good. So because I already like the color matched lowers on the newer cars I figured it’s a good time to fix the front and finish it off with matched lowers. My paint guy is also smoothing the top and color matching it. Also the front and rear grills are getting fresh black. I can’t wait to get it back probably on Friday. I also have a Brembo 6 pot 4pot 355mm BBK on the way. Just waiting on Brembo to finish the rear calipers in yellow to match the fronts. Bit by bit it’s coming together.
