I have been lurking around these forums for a while, and reading up old threads on the Ferrari 430 and would like some up to date information.

I currently have an Aston V8V, and love this car. Just being inside puts a smile on my face. I will be honest, power and specs isn’t my motive for buying a car, that’s how I ended up with the Vantage.

Anyways, I have my sights set on a Ferrari 430 (2005-2007). I have ruled out other options such as a Lamborghini Gallardo or Audi R8 – simply because it just doesn’t match my character and I find them too much of attention seekers.

The 360 seems like fantastic value for money, and seems to have bottomed out from a depreciation point of view, but the reliability seems a lot better for the 430 not to mention power increase.

Based on my research, I would go with the following specs
    • Black
    • Manual (Hard to find)
    • Spider
    • Carbon ceramic breaks
    • Scuderia shields
    • Dayonta power seats
    • Challenge grill
    • Hifi stereo
    • Well maintained records / keys / books etc

    1. Some questions, given this is an older car now, how much should I expect in depreciation? Lets say owning the car for 3-4 years putting 5,000kms per year.
    2. Any other options I should look for?
    3. How much should I be setting aside for maintenance? (What are the intervals and cost e.g., 30,000kms service)
    4. Any other factors I should consider?

You ask about maintenance cost yet don't give a geographic indication (km suggests not USA).....

You ask about recalls yet say you've been reading old threads.......manifolds & exhaust bracket

    Service intervals too - http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/143147033-post7.html

I don't want to sound too mean but these seem like the sort of questions basic reading should yield answers

I am familiar with Manifolds and exhaust bracket, the threads I saw were from 2010. Not sure if there is anything new since.

Thanks for the service intervals. I did not see. that, but are there associated costs which each service interval?

An F430 spider with a manual transmission is going to be hard to find. Finding one with a challenge grill will be even harder. I went form a manual 360 spider to an F1 430 spider with no regrets. If you are willing to consider the F1, you will have a lot more potential cars to look at. I suggest you at least drive one.

Im too stubborn but also patient. It is my dream car, and i am in no rush. Just want to make sure I get the right one. I doubt I will be moving to a 458 any time soon.

I am still loving my aston.

If you are concerned about attention, the 430 is NOT the car you should be researching.

Suffice it to say, I have had my picture taken in my car more often than I did on my wedding day. This is not an exaggeration.

    Aprox Cost for:
    10,000 Kms
    30,000 Kms
    50,000 Kms
    70,000 Kms
    90,000 Kms

    4. Any other factors I should consider? And what are some signs that should deter me (repainted, etc)

I'm in Toronto and have been reading and reading about F cars. Based on what i see the costs in Toronto will be unreasonable if your planning on using the dealer for anything. I am sure you already know this. So much depends on the car and it seems 5-7k per year is what i would set aside . But that number is easily eclipsed if you needed a clutch.
