Only 80 posts and 2000 veiws till we break the all-time "Sucks" thread.. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=191171&highlight=Massa+hater WE CAN DO IT ! Dig deep.
As sure as the sun rises in the East ! But wait a minute, Lew now says he might "think twice" before he pulls his next Kamikaze passing attempt ! Is there hope for good ol Lew ? Excerpt from the Autosport article : Speaking after qualifying in Valencia on Saturday, Hamilton said he is not planning to be less aggressive, but he did admit he may think more carefully before trying to pass. "I'd like to say no," said Hamilton when asked if he would be more cautious tomorrow. "I don't think I will, if the chance comes. Of course, I want to finish for the team, that's the key. I think I will always remain as aggressive as I am. "But instead of thinking once about it, maybe you'll perhaps think twice. If that means you are more cautious, then so be it but when I get the opportunity I am going to attack and try to overtake." Lew is 3rd on the grid for Sundays GP, better than the last 2 races but still in tight quarters between Webber and Alonso, possible fireworks ?
DRS is going to make the exceptional bravery and skill of an overtaking move largely irrelevant. Now it truly will be more about the car than ever before.
How? A pass now requires absolutely no skill whatsoever. The suspense has gone. Might as well have a race steward pushing a button to retard the spark on the engine whenever they want to change the result. Pete
I was going for irony The casual fan likes to see a bit of action. The fact that it's contrived is no longer relevant. A sad state of affairs for the serious fan but we're no longer the target audience.
Asked after Sundays feeble effort by Macca if he was looking forward to Silverstone Lew said " Uh, no " ! Then he sort of backtracked and said he was looking forward to seeing the fans". Lew also hinted that the Macca was going to be even worse without the blown diffuser, too bad for him. Then he does a u-turn, (probably after getting an earful from Macca PR), Sky sport article quote : Asked whether there was a need to put on a show, he replied: "Of course, more so when you are at your home grand prix. "That's what you'd like to do because people make a huge effort to come, they camp out in the fields". http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,12433_7008130,00.html So, Lew's brilliant strategy of biding his time picking up 2nd and 3rd place points before pouncing on Vettel has backfired, now that he seems unable to reach those positions. Poor ol Lew, I remember when he said that "I'm the only one who can challenge Vettel" How stupid does that statement seem now ?
I'll play devils advocate here (again!)..... I can't remember the makeup, but the LG fan survey a couple of years back suggests that's not correct...... If we assume those that took the time to complete it are "serious" fans, they stated in no uncertain terms that more overtaking was needed. Is it contrived? Yes, of course, but what we haven't seen is the "sitting duck" effect where they're constantly going back and forth - This suggests that the trailing car, once past, is indeed faster - Just that before DRS he had no way to get by. "We" asked for it, and they're doing their best to make something work. The "purist" in me hates it, and we'll have some great races and some boring ones - Just like it's *always* been!.... Cheers, Ian
We want fake passing, we just don't want it to be obvious . [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bwZju13GCWM&NR=1[/ame]
This is really funny, but this Hamilton bashing is getting really boring, even for me. I gotta believe this immature kid will grow up some day, and actually be who he thinks he is today. He has incredible skill, its just his personality that keeps him from success. Today.
The trailing car already has the slipstream advantage. In the end the DRS simply makes it too easy. Maybe they should make the opening in the wing a little smaller to at least make it look like racing is happening? Pete
but it DOESN'T make it too easy!! Lots of the DRS overtakes fail......and before DRS, cars many seconds a lap faster than the car in front were unable to overtake, spoiling their race and our viewing. It's been said many times, either the wings have to go so the trailing car can get close enough to slipstream OR DRS allows the same thing.
He missed the WC by one point in his rookie year, then the next he won the world championship. He is also regarded as one of the top racers on the grid today. I would say that's a success in anyone's book. Who on this forum can say that they are the best/number one in the world in there respected fields? And yet the majority on here think there successful.
