Hi all, Have a gtb arriving any day. Currently own an f8 tributo and an 812 superfast. Have a 12c arriving next year. Need to trade either F8 or 812 for the 296, and I am struggling as I love both cars. The F8 is one od the most beautiful cars and last non hybrid mid engine v8 or the 812 with it’s insane pre gpf v12…. Thank you for guidance!
Did you spec and order the F8 new? If it’s something you bought the way you want, I would agree with Dixit and keep it, sell the 812 now and you’ll get back the V12 with the 12C. I think the market will continue to be strong for F8 for a bit longer. As you can see they’re holding much better than the 296 for now. I think in the long run the 812 GTS and obviously Comp will be the 812 to have, but I suspect the GTB will end up being less desirable than the F12.
Wait it's pre gpf 812. Wow. The sound must be orgasmic. I say sell F8. 296 will make it feel quite slow.
Which do you enjoy driving least? That's probably what you should sell. If it were me I'd sell the F8 and keep 812 until 12C. Why? 296 is much more enjoyable to me than F8 due to feeling more agile, sounding better, and I actually can feel like I'm going fast at lower speeds in the 296. Agree re: F8 looks but I like the 296 as well. Maybe if you want to keep "lasts" that also sound good, buy a 458 or split one with a friend so you can drive it sometimes but not take up one of your parking spots?
If I were you I honestly would sell neither. Ultimately the F8 and a pre-opf 812 are keepers, the 296 won't be. The F8 is becoming a classic as the last mid engine non-hybrid v8, and a pre-opf 812 is pure bonkers and last of the true screaming v12's. The only two-car combo better than this is a speciale/pista + tdf/competizione. You have the best ones mate don't give it up
All good advice, the problem is cars are an emotional decision and you are the only one who can really know how you feel about each one.
Sell the F8. It is inferior in every way and redundant. The 812 compliments and is the only one with a normally aspirated engine. And it’s a 12 cylinder engine. This one is easy.
I would keep the v12. once you drive the 296, you'll most likely have a similar realization that it is a MUCH better experience than the F8. F8 is quiet. Although i like how sharp the F8 is, 296 is even sharper. If you haven't already, just go over to your local Ferrari dealer and drive the demo 296 or have them give it to you for the day to help you with making a decision.
It's interesting to have so many opinions based on collectability and resale value. What happened to making a decision based on how the car drives, not how the car will (or will not) appreciate.
Awesome discussion. I have some time to decide. What draws me most to the F8 is how it looks, over how it drives honestly. The 812 sound is the appeal. I tend to agree that the 296 and the F8 may be redundant in terms of basic driving characteristics. first world problems haha
I have never been a huge fan of the 812 styling, but I think I would keep the 812 and trade the F8. I think that it's nice to have a grand tourer in the stable for a sporty drive that isn't necessarily as cramped as the mid engined car. But here I am who sold my Vanquish last year and I'm planning on keeping both my 720 and the 296 GTS when it arrives. Then maybe I'll order a 12C or buy a new Vanquish. Again, 1st world problems. But there is something about a 12 cylinder car.
Bah! It's only money. When we die, what we take with us are memories. The money is left for everyone else still alive.
GT vs sports car - keep 812 when 12Ci comes in, drive it as I doubt you will enjoy it as much as 812. Tempted to cancel 12Ci and keep 812, it's a perfect Ferrari GT
This is my dilemma, my street cars are the F8 spider, the 458 spider, and the Lamborghini STO. I really enjoy them all, and having driven (and liked) the 296, if I go this route would most likely part with the F8. I don’t need a VS (I have track cars), the GTS would be where I’d be looking. I’m viewing this as ‘sideways’ move; the F8 is more than adequate for the street. The lack of sound is not problematic for me, I have enough sound drama with the others. So it would really just the be experience of owning a different car.
