What wheel size is that on the LMP1 car? Sure doesn't look low profile to me, but I'm hearing what you are saying. Maybe there is room to move without compromise.

Concerning Pirelli`s demands, they asked for this when they agreed to re enter F1 a few years ago. I remember reading this very specifically. They ageed to supply F1 tires if they would change to an 18" tire in 3 or 4 years. I never heard anything about it after that so I had assumed they did not get this request approved. Or maybe F1 agreed only to take up the issue at a later time.

I even asked this ( or another forum) if anyone had heard anything else about it last year. No one replied, so I again assumed that the topic was just dropped by F1 early in the tire discussion.

So if Pirelli is bringing it up again, maybe the agreement was to take it up at a later time, and here we are.

    Stefano.

Bigger than that, I'd say. From Wikipedia: "Wheel size (maximum diameter) of 28.5 inches (720 mm) and maximum width of 16 inches (410 mm)." These are the 2011 regs. They said on the coverage of this year's Le Mans that the maximum width had been reduced, but nothing about the diameter. Of course, they can be smaller that 720 mm. I'll try to find out the actual size of the 919 wheels and tires.
