The one area where I found Hagerty was difference from other collector car insurance was they would cover the car on an occasional commute to work. They say up to 20 trips per year... how they enforce that though, I don't know.

Based on current prices of recent sales both private and auction, I've increased the value of my car to $120,000 through Hagerty. Of course they want the business, but when I showed them the pictures of the car they didn't blink.

I have 6 cars insured with Hagerty for better than 10 years, I have never heard mention of usage or annual mileage.

Maybe they don't have any limits to mileage & usage, but you might want to review your policy's terms just to be sure. I can't tell you how often we have clients who run into insurance issues, because they didn't realize (or read the policy) and know there were certain limits or exclusions in their policies. Hopefully, your's don't have any but many collector car policies do have limits to mileage and usage.

There is no mileage limit with Hagerty. I remember reading the 20 times limit on their website but I can't find it now or in any email. I don't think I imagined it :)

My policy documents do mention usage, on the first page under definitions. You must have a daily driver on another policy for FREQUENT errand usage (for which they give a list). The collector car is covered for these errands also but only if used INFREQUENTLY for those purposes, for example commute, school, groceries etc. I therefore believe their definition of infrequently is up to 20 a year... but as I said, how can they verify?

Their usage definition suits me personally because I occasionally do take the 308 to the grocery store and I do occasionally pick up one of the boys from school in it. We also do take the car for weekends away and Hagerty have no issue with that either. In fact I probably do all that more than take it to car shows which aren't really my thing. For me its worth the extra $200 (~25%) over Grundy's quote.

I am not much of a risk to Hagerty,

The 1968 Shelby I insured with Hagerty probably 15 years ago, I doubt I have put 100 miles on her, probably closer to 50,

Three Avanti's insured by Hagerty haven't been driven on public roads in at least 10 years, trailered only to shows and the next house.

My wife's Cobra II has maybe 10 miles in 18 months,

The 308 hasn't been driven in a couple of years (trailered only to shows) as soon as I get the belts finished up, we'll be back to driving it to church on Sundays.

My Jeep and Dodge truck on the other hand get driven a whole lot, 320k on the Jeep 250k on the truck
