I would have guessed that it would look bigger next to the real thing. >8^) ER Image Unavailable, Please Login
Keep in mind it's 1/8th (23" long), so you can stack 8 of these models lengthwise, widthwise and heightwise to make up the proportion of the real thing.
Do you have one of these LMs in your shop now Morry? If so, would it be possible to take a photo of it next to any of the 1/12th scale McLarens that have been released by other companies? >8^) ER
So far that is the only shot I have seen with the two together. I have some nicer ones without the model. Is that what you are looking for? >8^) ER
Always love to see any photos of any F1 - but for this thread I specifically meant with the model (one of which I would love to have - but can't seem to get it past the financial controller )
I'm my own financial controller and I still can't get it approved. Besides the images that Morry has already shared, these are the only others that I have of the 1/8th LM model at the moment. I'm not sure on the source of the first one, but the other three were taken at the recent Goodwood FOS through Amalgam's glass display case, so the reflections don't really help to convey the sheer awesomeness of the model. >8^) ER Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login

Beautiful Las!! Great addition to your very impressive collection! Thanks for the comparison photos. The 1/8th scale really dwarfs the 1/12th - maybe a little more than I would have expected. >8^) ER
You can buy the watch that commemorates this car. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showpost.php?p=138908260&postcount=134
I so rarely visit this section of the forum but I'll need to check it out in more detail. Morry - Your models are amazingly beautiful in their detail and after reading about the CAD/CAM design, I can see why. Apologies if I've missed this but have you ever posted a series of photos regarding the "making of" a model? Las - Great collection! The dusting has to be a PITA though on the exposed cars?
Personally I don't make any of the models - I contract professional and private builders to do small runs for my gallery. The McLaren F1 LM was made in the UK by Amalgam for my shop using the real car on display at the Factory (XP1/LM). If you want to see more large scale models from a variety of builders and companies, check out - http://www.collectorstudio.com/index.cfm/ID/16

What's almost as impressive as the 1/8 model I sold him is the 'Watchmen' comic above...what an awesome read!
I just figured he lined those books up there to make him appear well studied. Thanks for the additional shots! The ones with you hanging out in #19R were new for me - when did you score that little treat? Unfortunately that car left the USA headed for England earlier this year. Hopefully its new owner puts it to some good use on the tracks over there. Maybe we'll even see it make an appearance in the GT90's series if that continues? Some estimates have put the cost of running the GTRs at around the same price per hour as a private jet, but if you have the checkbook balance necessary to purchase it then you probably have enough funds left over to put it on track occasionally too. >8^) ER
I had to hide certain books (Danielle Steele, The Twilight Series, Nancy Drew etc. ). The treat was at Symbolic. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vprx75iW3k8&feature=channel_page http://public.fotki.com/dealwisl/2009-symbolic-open-/
Three went to Brunei and they are all still there today. LM1 & LM4 which are the black ones, and LM5 which is the traditional papaya orange. LM2 is in Japan with its original owner, LM3 is in the USA with Ralph Lauren as the third owner. The factory have retained possession of XP1 LM which was the LM prototype on display at the McLaren Technology Centre. >8^) ER
What's the significance of the paint scheme - are those stripes the Brunei family colors or something?
