I heard rumor that Stan who used to run Fox Valley Motor Cars service dept. has gone solo. Would anyone know if this is true and how to get hold of him?
If not, can anyone recommend a good independent mechanic for my '89 Mondial T?
    Thanks,
    Ron

Don't know Stan, but I am also looking for an independent in the Naperville area that knows Ferrari autos.

I have been using Continental Motors in Hinsdale. Great service, just a bit on the high priced side.

I bought my '88 328 from Fox Valley Motor Cars and they recommended Kurt at Euroquipe in St. Charles for service on my car. Kurt did an inspection and major service on my car and I was satisfied. Kurt is Ferrari-certified and used to work at Lake Forest Sportscars. It turned out that the previous major my car had was done by Kurt when he was at LFSC.

By all means, if you can get Stan to do the work for you, do it! Stan, along with Tod from Continental, are the two best mechanics I have met. I worked with Stan for a few years at Lambo Chicago and it was amazing what he was able to do. He should have been an engineer. If you want, send me a pm for his contact info.

I would definitely use Stan. He has worked on my car in the past and as Mike said he is amazing. I would say he is the best mechanic you can get. Honest too!!

Does anyone have the contact information for these Ferrari shops? I was planning to use Autosprint, but if there is a good option closer that would be great.

I have been using A & A Tire Supply in St. Charles. The name is definitely deceiving as it is far from a tire supply. Just picked up my 308 today from service being done and inside the service area he had a Daytona, Noble, a Jag. He has2 Ferrari's, Mercedes, Lamborghini, Viper, and other exotics for sale. Alex is the owners name, David is the chief mechanic.

Not to mention the fact that Alex has been there for better than 20 years. Does he still have a Maserati Mexico languishing in the back? :)

Haven't seen the Maserati the last two trips there. Talk about a "best kept secret"! Who would think that A & A Tire and Supply would be a Ferrari and other exotic car service place! My experience so far has been positive, just wish Alex had a bit more time to give me updates on how the service is going on my 308. The end result seems good which is what we all really want.

Guess he finally either fixed it or repaired it. Think the last time I was back in the service area & saw the Maser was probably 1987 or earlier. He's always had some VERY interesting cars for sale, but back in the mid '80s he had a Pantera (GT5s I believe) for sale & if my memory isn't too out of whack, he was even an authorized Pantera dealer.

Hope the 308 service turns out well!

    David
