Hi all, I am considering buying a 328 GTS located in the Spartanburg SC area. I live in Columbia, and I would like to have a PPI done. I would appreciate any referrals for a good independent Ferrari mechanic in this general area. TIA, John
Hi John, I live in Greenville, SC. We have a shop here that does work on Ferraris and Lambos. I always have my 348 serviced at FOA, so I can not tell you any more about this shop than word of mouth. I know of a few people that have used them and been very pleased. The name is AUSTROTECH MOTORSPORT INC. The number is 864-895-9999. Im pretty sure they are located in Greer, SC...This should be about 15 miles from Spartanburg. Good luck!! -Jay
My friend is having work done on his M Roadster at Austrotech right now and he's picky so they must be alright
Thanks Jay and Andy, I spoke with the fellow at Austrotech this afternoon. His name is Gunther and he seems to be very knowledgeable. I also heard of an independent shop in No. Charleston that can work on "older" Ferraris. The name of the business is European Road and Racing. I plan to meet both soon to check it out. John
I'll second Andy's recommendation. Karl Troy at European Road & Racing in North Charleston is great. He's been caring for my cars since 1997 and he's very knowledgeable in addition to being reasonably priced for exotic work. He's certainly not limited to older Ferraris - I've seen everything there from 246s to 360 spiders and 550 Barchettas. He also does Lamborghini, Porsche, BMW, Audi and Merc. He is very busy (he's the only decent guy for many miles), but I suspect he would go to Spartanburg if you pay him the travel time. Way back in 97 when I was shopping for my first exotic he said he would travel anywhere to PPI as long as I was taking care of his expenses. 843-747-1342.
Yeah Karl has some badass cars too of his own. BTW, next time I'm down in charleston I'd LOVE to see your collection Charles! I saw the video footage at Jeremy's place of his visit and it looked awesome!
Charles and Andy. I would like to thank both of you for the referral. Jon called me today and we spent quite some time discussing his plans. He was extremely nice and very knowledgeable of what he is looking for. I invited him to the Roebling event. He will keep me posted with the progress on the car and to set an appointment in the near future if the purchase comes through. Thanks again for the kind words. I thought about responding to his post but didn't feel comfortable selling my services on a public forum. As it seems, with you guys by my side, I don't have to. Best Regards, Karl Troy www.europeanroadandracing.com
