Anybody used MilShield, or have a tool to clean index.dat files?

i have nothing sinister to hide, but my pc is slowing down, and i know its all the crap in these files.

I am running a registered and updated copy of Windows XP-64.

16gigs of ram, 4 Sata drives, 2 512 video cards. Asus motherboard. cleaned and defragged.

takes almost 2 minutes to boot. 50 services running.

Going to look on BlackVipers website also.

    Thanks for any help.

In the past, this is what I did:

Reboot and log on with another user account (one that has admin rights) then navigate to said index.dat file and delete it. This will reset the browser back to the default settings/configuration as well.

Log out and back in to the original account, launch IE which will recreate a new index.dat file.

True, and as I recall, each user profile has several although the one in IE's Temporary Internet Folder has the most "history". Try opening that with notepad; it's an archivist treasure trove ;)
