Qualifying resumes Sunday, but Pole Day drivers are locked into their positions for the 500: Pos Driver Team Speed 1. Helio Castroneves Penske 224.864mph 2. Ryan Briscoe Penske 224.083mph 3. Dario Franchitti Ganassi 224.010mph 4. Graham Rahal Newman/Haas/Lanigan 223.954mph 5. Scott Dixon Ganassi 223.867mph 6. Tony Kanaan Andretti Green 223.612mph 7. Mario Moraes KV 223.331mph 8. Alex Lloyd Schmidt/Ganassi 222.622mph (There goes Danica again being consistent)
great run by Helio! lots of late drama. great run for Lloyd. too bad PT didn't get in 1st round, but he'll be fine. seemed like the crowd was decent too (even though its still light years away from the old pole day crowds)
It was funny during the last hour that when anyone pulled an already-qualifed car out of the field in order to requalify it, Tracy was temporarily back in the field. It happened, what, 6 or 7 times? Paul seemed at the time like the proverbial cat with 9 lives.....
Dancing man is on the pole. There is a big disparity between the Penske/Ganassi cars and the rest of the field. Friday Brisco and Helio went out and run fastest laps and parked the cars. About 2M the air chilled a bit. Both out for 4-5 laps. Times no better. Parked the cars. Typical Penske. Both teams buttoned up their pit booths about 3M. Only 4 cars ran happy hour. with the exception of RHR and maybe Tagliani...is there anyone on that list that really matters? (sure, Lazier is a former winner, but from 13 years ago during the lowest point in Indy history). Is Conway cleared to drive?
Day 3 QUALIFYING 23. Doornbos 221.692 24. Bell 221.195 25. Servia 220.984 26. Tagliani 220.984 27. Scheckter 220.212 28. Conway 220.124 29. Viso 219.971 30. Hunter-Reay 219.502 31. Andretti 219.442 32. Duno 218.040 33. Philippe 218.032 Awaiting Bubble Day last chance Barrett Lazier
Apologies, Also attempting to qualify; Bruno Junqueira I believe only the last three cars currrently in the field may be bumped, Hunter-Reay having the last confirmed car in the 500 at this time.
Bubble Day-51 deg. and 35% humidity. Coldest day this year. Milka Duno qualified 32nd Sat. at 218. She pulled that time today and just ran 221.7 mph. Someone will go faster. This puts the bottom 12 times in jeopardy. Wildest bubble day in a few years.
Thanks Michael! I wasn't certain if everyone who qualified on day three were actually on the bubble or not. No Versus coverage here, looking for a stream.. Sounds as though you're in for an exciting day !!!
Conway withdrew and requlified with 9 drivers bleow him. back to prctice for now. Bubble order as of 3:42pm: EJ Viso 219.971 (Y) Thomas Scheckter 220.212 (Y) RHR 220.413 Tagliani 220.553 (Y) Phillippe 220.754 Servia 220.984 (Y) Y = yesterday's qualification which was universally slower than today
keep refreshing the following for the current list. http://www.indy500.com/grid Good way yo get use to thecar colors/sponsors too I do have it on TV right now
Thanks very much !! Just watched RHR press conference with 2 hours to go...." I'm totally mystified where the speed is.... track is definitely quicker...."
Viso is in a sim-qual practice and hit trap speed of 227. Most likely will withdraw exisitng time and requal to stop from being bumped
Bump order; Viso, Scheckter, Hunter -Reay, Tagliani .....finally a bump day worth watching and no TV coverage...
Toss in Ed carpenter's wife is in the garage area with contractions starting. They are wondering if the Baby will happen before the gun fires to end bump day. lol!
