I am back in snow country tonight. I will be back end january begining of feb. then again mid march to end march. I can go pretty much anywhere except laguna seca, its just a little too far for a day trip.

Holy crap your think we were having fun at the track you should have seen I15 monday through Utah. Cars, pickups, semi tractor trailers, fith wheel campers and pickups all in the ditch.

Everyone else going 30 mph, as the crazy canadian goes by in the passing lane. Luckly it appeared noone was hurt just people checking out the ditches.

The best was the boat sitting in the ditch no trailer to,be seen. It was just past salt lake so maybe he missed the turn. Crazy weather though.

Buttonwillow is a real possibility, but they want only "experienced" drivers on their open test days, so that cuts out the goal of getting more of us on the track. They have open test days that are economical and fun:
    OPEN TEST DAY NOTES:

OPEN TEST Days are open to race prepped cars and street cars. Soft tops, or convertibles must have a roll cage or roll bar. All drivers must have previous track experience, no beginners allowed. Helmets are required at all times (we have rentals available for $15 per day). Mandatory driver’s meeting for Full Day participants is at 8:30AM in the base of the tower and 12:30PM for Half Day participants.

For me, big factors are as follows:
    1. I'm not into big crowds...SpeedVentures, etc
    2. Nothing to hit off-track....not that I ever go off-track, but others do :D
    3. Don't want to spend $300+ just to get on the track.

I think Thermal is members-only unless we're hosted by a member. Doesn't BMW control the track? I dunno. Should be fun though, if somebody has an in. Chuckwalla did us free one time so they could pitch membership to us. Little did they realize we were poor 348/355 guys and not wealthy Ferrari owners! Maybe Thermal would do the same.

Mebbe one of our NorCal guys would suggest a date/organize one at Sonoma (hint, hint)

Willow is easy to get to. I scared the pee out of myself there once, so I'm really slow there. But, I can tell really fast lies and they have a good snack bar, so I'd go there.

"Back to Chuck"? I really enjoyed that experience! There's nothing to hit. It's cheap. There's a casino. There's Grant's place!

Spring date? (Guess that depends on track schedules, largely unpujblished yet.)

The advantage of organized events with more people like soeedventures is ambulance on site. Other groups like arosc.org the alfa romeo club has ambulance and fire rescue. You do not get those on open test days. Those days are designed not for 10/10ths finding your best time. Speedventures even has an exotic car run group so you could be on track with just your friends in ferraris but that run group costs more.

Went on track even if not pushing it we are not playing checkers. I think we should think seriously about safety that a larger organizatjon can provide. That said I noticed on our last trackday at chuck everyone played well within their limits. There were no dummies. We had drivers who knew their limits and sometimes that ment saving some energy for the drive home and skipping a session. Kudos to all of our group for being mature safe drivers on track. Despite having no on site ambulance our group could do a track testday with good confidence we are all coming home intact. I always have air in my spare tire. I like having medical support at the track.

Well since I don't have a 355 I will split yours with you and tow it to where we need to go. We old geezers are only good for about 1/2 day each anyway. This way we can nap during the day and not feel bad about it.

Yeah...Saran wrap is such a pain I would rather do the pre-flight for the 355C.
