Just wondering if any on here have tried Indonesian "kretek" cigarettes.

They're sweet, smooth spicy taste of cloves and have a nice aroma. Just nice after a heavy meal :)

I use to smoke Djarum back in the 80's. I don't think my lungs could take them now, but I still love the smell.

Banned in the US since '09 but people get them from the web. They were put into the flavored tobacco group that appealed to children.

I've never had one. I very dumb girl I used to know smoked them, and then would cough up blood. I told her to stop smoking them and then asked why they caused her to cough up blood. She told me that it was because clove cigarettes cause you to inhale fiberglass.

I started smoking by smoking cloves...

Never coughed up blood, never had any issues other than typical shortness of breath, etc., associated with smoking.

Smoked Djarum Blacks. Never smoked them regularly...they were always an occasional thing, as they are very thick and sweet. Like dessert.

I didn't realize they were banned now in the U.S. There are a flood of memories when I smell a clove. Depeche mode, New order, Guess jeans and clubs in San Francisco.
