I have a very rusty metal mistery box (nothing dangerous) the size of a small suitcase and I'd love to see what's inside of it. I'm looking for anybody in the Chicagoland area who knows of a commercial/industrial x-ray service, which would scan my box.

I realize there are professional services out there, but they charge professional rates. I'm not looking to spend much on this little project.

    Appreciate your help.

I would destroy it by doing so.

We are talking here about an 80 years old box. It's basically rust through and through. Any force applied leaves it in crumbles.

I'm sitting 50 feet from a cargo x-ray machine that could do it. (Elk Grove Village) Just can't imagine any way to justify doing it. If someone started asking questions, I wouldn't have very good answers. Do you know anyone who works for a freight forwarder? Most of them screen their own airfreight.

I don't but I understand you. My company has an x-Ray machine for visitors but this would open a Pandora's box of questions as well.

I was hoping somebody from a museum or a scientific research lab would chime in here because that's what we are talking about here. A historic artefact of value which would be a shame to cut open.
