I have been battling an issue with my Lotus that I am at my wits end with so I am going to throw in the towel and let someone else take a stab at it. Does anyone know a reliable honest independent place that can take a look at an oil leak that seems to be coming from my transmission in my Lotus?

Have you tried Trophy Performance? They're primarily Porsche guys but they're clever and straight shooters.

Gary at Italy's Service also works on British cars. I stopped by recently and IIRC he had an old Esprit there.

Although I might also look at Toyota/Lexus independents, since it's a Toyota drivetrain, no?

When I have talked to Toyota independents I wasn't comfortable with taking my car to them. I am pretty fussy about my car.

Have you tried some of the car forums in the U.K., I've found that they are great with issues on various astons and land rovers etc, bit like the ferrari guys here

Yea that's where I started and that's what got me to the point I am currently at. I have ordered parts, replaced, get everything back together and still the leak. I am on my third shot and just thinking I should take it to someone. If I had the nerve to take the rear clam off and the engine/transaxle out I could probably get this completed I am just not comfortable doing that yet. Not that I couldn't get it apart but that I wouldn't be able to get it back together properly. Then I would have a real mess.

True, time for a specialist then. Unfortunately, can't help over there, here, my race team engineers would probably be able to get it sorted, they are exceptional

Why I have a fear of wrenching my own cars. Sure, I can figure out how to dismantle things. But putting it back together scares the crap out of me.

That, and I'm pretty sure swear words were invented for skinning your knuckles and dropping bolts into places you can't reach, originally on carts and chariots.

British Sports Car Service is a part of Italy car service. Thank you for that lead, I am going to go over later today to take a look at their shop.

I recommend Gary at Italy Service, he's done great work on my Lotus Esprit.

I thought British cars were supposed to leak oil, All of mine always have, its the UK's form of rust control.

This one never leaked in the 3+ years I have had it. Plus it has the Toyota engine and transmission, it really shouldn't be leaking.

One day Gary will take my car in. He keeps asking me for a few more days when I take it which I am fine with. We are shooting for tomorrow. I have a track weekend coming up in December so hopefully he can get it sorted by then.
