You guys are mightly quite out there...

Most of the sites I checked came from www.Indianapolis.org.

I have reviewed a number of hotels/B&B's on the internet and would appreciate some advice regarding their quality and "travel ease" to the speedway. Please provide some feedback if you know anything about the following:

    Dates 6/16/-6/24

    1-The Columbia Club 160.00
    2-Stone Soup Inn 85-145
    3-Looking Glass Inn 105-145
    4-Fountainview Inn 85-145
    5-Yellow Rose Inn 175-250
    6-The Nestle Inn 105-140
    7-Hilton Indianapolis North 99.00
    8-Doubletree Guest Suites Indianapolis/Carmel 84.00

As you can see, I posted the price for those who are interested in "shopping". Price range is from 84.00-250.00 per night. Yellow Rose Inn being on the higher side, and Double Tree for 84.00 if you use the net option.

Indy is going to be great! Your helpful feedback will be welcomed.

Never been inside the Hotel, but it's located right across the street from Community North Hospital which is a nice area. It's RIGHT NEXT to Interstate 69 which will take you downtown in 10 minutes and also about 2 miles from I-465 which will take you anywhere around the city. My father was in a BAD car accident a couple months ago and I got to spend A LOT of time around the hospital there, so I know the area well. Also, there are many many places to eat and drink around the 82nd/86th Street areas.

The new Hilton (was an Omni until recently) in Castleton should be a safe bet. It's a bit of a ride to the track compared to other locations around town --- but if you're driving your pride and joy car and leaving it parked outside, I think you'll find the Castleton / Fishers / Carmel areas on the North East or North Central side of town probably the safest place to be.

I live about 15 minutes NE of where you're staying, and think you'll be in good shape in terms of safety and choice of eateries, etc.

    Hi guys.
A hotel tip for NEXT year, 2006.
We are building Indy's new (and only) 5-star Conrad hotel in downtown. 243 rooms, 23 floors, parking on 2 floors. This is the 2nd Conrad in the states.
We are in the structural phase, and in fact have our topping out ceremony scheduled for Grand Prix week next month to raise brand awareness with the GP visitors, teams, etc... If you want to buy a luxury condo they are on the top floors too!
Look Conrad up on the net and book for 06, we're one block from the gathering on the circle at the glass Arts Garden.

For 05, if rooms are still avail. at the downtown Marriott, that's a good choice.

We stayed at a B&B. It was someone's house that they rented out the bed rooms for the weekend. The best part was they were near the track, [icked us up at the airport and drove us to the track is we asked. Look on the internet...there are many out there. There were 8 people there and the rate was far less then the hotels.

If you have to stay in a hotel I liked the Residence Inn downtown. Staff was very nice (I stayed their while working at Eli Lilly) and access to downtown area is easy.

Thank you very much for your replies. I have secured a room at the Columbia Club. What will be fun is all of the driving. 610 miles one way from Columbia, SC, in a 348 Challenge, no air, track set up, straight pipes...did I mention the ear plugs? This should be fun...

I plan to meet some Friends in Asheville, NC and convoy up on Wednesday, anyone else who will be passing through, feel free to join us for the drive.

Anyone coming from the south should ditch I-65 north of Louisville and run up State Road 135 thru Nashville, In. Great drive and will break the interstate blues if you have a spare hour to get to Indy.

SMS,sounds good, especially since I have a conflict with the FCA cruise at Indy, it coeinsides with the Drivers Education, which means more track time. That cruise is through Brown County to some small artsy community....
