I'm looking for some suggestions for reasonably priced hotels walking distance to the race venue (maybe not possible?). I did a search on Expedia but I am not sure where these hotels are relative to the race. Is there special transportation set up with hotels for the race? Also, if anyone has suggestions for where to sit for the race, I'd like to get that input as well.

The first obvious answer the the Vinoy which is situated at the northern end of the
circuit. The Vinoy and the Don Cesar rank as St. Pete's most famous hotel destinations,
both are old Florida style buildings resplendent in pink.

However, during the Indy Car race week, the Vinoy also serves as the headquarters of the
event so if you're looking for a room there, it would be suggested that you get in touch
with them soonest, you may just get lucky.

Downtown St. Pete is really growing and there are several more modern high rise hotels
sprouting up in the area as well if the Vinoy is sold out.

For a street course, the St. Pete layout is really good and relatively easy to get around.
The most popular seating would be behind the pits which affords a wide open view of the
pit and and the high-speed straight down the airport runway. If you're feeling more adventurous
though, the suggestion might be to walk the circuit as there are some great views and more
    general admission seating areas.
