I don't want to pay $71 for 250 business cards at FedEx Kinkos.

Has anyone bought business cards online?

I'm wanting a standard size, white business card (on paper). I need at least two colors -- red and blue -- for my company's logo.

I wanting to get these for an employee of mine who is just advancing to the very first tier of management, and I just want to give her something to make her "official" and ease her transition from regular employee to manager.

    Any suggestions?

Go to staples and buy the 1000 card pack of 10-up business card sheets, Avery #8476, Ivory matte. Draft your card and format it with MS Word (sheet #8371 in the cards and envalope setting) and bang them out on a color printer. Badda-Boom. 1K business cards for $30!

Problem with that is that the serraded (sp?) edges just scream "cheap" and "not for real company." I have never hired / listened to anyone that did not have the balls for a real card.

    I use overnightprints.com

The aqueous coating provides a really nice look on my cards and they print in a 4/4 (full color) process, so photographs, etc, look nice.

At that site, 1,000 cards full color with gloss coating is $40.

I've gotten cards lots of places and the place I listed seems to have the best IMO. The cards are really thick card and thicker than almost all others I've seen.

Tip - if you get the back of the card printed, dont opt for the gloss coating, because it makes it impossible to write on with a pen.

There are a new type made now that make a clean break, I don't know how they work but they look great, no one could ever tell they were "cheap." I bought them because I was designing a card and wanted to see what it would look like before I had a bunch of them printed.

I only use those type to see how a design looks in real life, rather than a proof on the puter, or for when I'm in a pinch waiting for cards to come in. The time, aggravation, and ink cost to print 500 cards that way, vs. the $40 from VistaPrint.com it's a no brainer for me. I'll gladly buy those few hours of my life! ;)

If you elect to go that route, avery has some glossy cards that are great depending on the design of your card.

I just payed $55 for 250 from OfficeMax, 2 color with ivory-colored paper. Perhaps a little more than I should have spent, but better than the printed ones I tried to cut out. I won't do that again.
