I'm looking for an inexpensive camcorder to give as a Christmas gift... It's for someone who isn't particularly tech savvy so ease of use is a major factor. I see a few Canon and Sony models for $3-400 that look alright but I don't really know much. It would seem that something that takes flash memory cards would be the way to go?

    Any recommendations?

That's a neat little gizmo though I'm not sure how much I would need the really wide angle, definitely not the type of thing I'm looking at for this person. It's an interesting piece though..... I have a special mount made for my own camcorder so my camera is firmly attached to take video while flying low level. Just ordered a Canon 5D Mk II and I'm really looking forward trying out the hi def video options with that.

    +1

Also see this thread - It includes a link to a vid someone shot here with one mounted in their bumper - Set it "HD" and the quality rocks IMHO - At least given the size & price of the thing. Plus it's really "idiot proof".

    Cheers,
