Anyone ever put an infant seat in a 348? My wife thinks it's unsafe. The data I find online with my admittedly weak Google-Fu seems to indicate that child seats in a two seater are not UNsafe, just not AS safe as riding in the back of a sedan or van. The key issue seems to be airbags, which wouldn't be a problem in the case of the 348. If anyone has any relevant info, stories, or links they can share, I'd really appreciate it. To be sure, our Odyssey is a better choice for carting a kid around. I'm asking more out of curiosity than anything else, but I could see putting the baby in the car once or twice if it's safe to do so.
I don't see why not. Obviously the back seat of a 4 seater is supposedly the safer option but you're not putting them in harms way, they would be safer then you in the drivers seat on the same journey. As a side note the 2000 360 that I just dismantled had a factory child seat restraint anchor behind the passenger seat so...
I've done it with my 348. Even been pulled over by cops with kid in child seat in my 348. No problem, but I did get a ticket for speeding.
Being the younger brother I was always forced to ride in the back hatch for hours in Dad's 280z. It made me tougher, especially in the summer time. Strap in a car seat, drive safely, and dont forget the silver spoon
In florida kids must be in the back seat IF there is one. If its a two seater, its 100% legal to put a child up front. However, airbags (355 only) and rear facing seats is never OK. My oldest kids are 4 and 6 and i take them in the 355 all the time with a Diono R100
I see, I have dismantled 3 MY 2000 360s and this was the first time I had seen one. I figured someone must have special ordered it so they could cruse with the kids.
Its a 348, not worried about valve guides. There was one member who posted a video of him driving his newborn home in a 355 after a long stay in NICU, very special moment.
I would recommend consulting your particular state regulatory bodies (or their websites). For example, in some countries/states it is mandatory for children under 6 months to use rear facing child restraints, and these types of restraints can only be used in the front seat if there is only one row of seats in the vehicle and there is NO airbag in that location.
The 348 fits that description. That's the law in TN, as well. I know it's legal, was just wondering how safe it is. I'm of the opinion that it should be fine for the occasional drive.
My daughter enjoys the 348 Spider. I love how people are staring when we stop at traffic lights and they see my little princess looking cool in the Spider. Pic is almost 3 years old, when she was 5. for longer distance trips we use the 456 MGT as a much safer transport. Image Unavailable, Please Login
We have a doctor friend who once made the comment on how safe and well built todays child car seats are to the effect that many times its only the child who "survives the accident". AKA they are safer in the car seat in any seat than you are.
