What do you guys think of this car? I was at the Infiniti dealer this morning to have an oil service done for my wife's QX56. While waiting I took the GS35 coupe for a spin...it looks and feels like a great car...much better than the Nissan 350Z I drove a few months back...and it has a real stick-shift manual rather than the paddle shift crap a lot of cars are going to. The dealer claims the new Skyline will be badged as an Infiniti with ~450hp and word is that they will be coming to the USA in mid-2007 as a 2008 model. http://www.jbskyline.net/

same chassis and engine as the z car....but more refined///i liked it better...a nice fun ride...good bang for the buck...not as refined or precise as a bmw 330i, but it quicker and cheeper...interior materials are a little cheapy but not too bad...i like the styling

    I have a '04 6-speed Coupe. It's called a G35, not GS35. I love it, makes a great daily driver. Sport & luxury....nice power, handles great, Brembo brakes, 18" wheels etc....alot of car for the $$$$.

You're correct, it is a G35 coupe. And, with the sports suspension package it comes with 19" wheels which look better than the 18" wheels to me. The back seat has a low roof line even though it has plenty of leg room...so, for kids or short adults only. I can't decide whether to get one now or wait to 07 and get the 450hp a/k/a Skyline version?

The 19" wheels weren't a option when I bought mine, I do however like them alot. As for the "Skyline" they say that car will cost $20,000 more though....

Yea, but it will have 450hp, all wheel drive and more...well worth an extra $20k...or not?

Well once you get into that price range you have more of a choice.
Plus I personally HATE AWD, RWD is much better balance wise....and more fun.

I too have an 04 G35 Coupe. 6spd, 18in, Brembo's, Aero package. Essentially everything except Navi.

I really enjoy the car. I have posted a couple threads about it in this section.

Here is the thread I posted about the first time I tracked the car: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=68820&highlight=g35

Even though it is a little shy of 300hp(funny when you think that 15 years ago 300hp was considered a lot), you can easily command the rear end outward at will when putting around town. Quite fun actually. Just remember to turn off the traction control!

Here is a thread I made where I asked advice on tracking the car: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=68569&highlight=g35

And finally, here is the first thread I posted which gives my initial thoughts on the car: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=44876&highlight=g35

These are in reverse chronological order.

Anyways, the difference between the 04's and the current model are this:
    04' HP 285ish
    05'+ HP 298
This difference actually hasn't changed 0-60 or 1/4 mile times, they just messed with engine timing.
    04 brakes=Brembo(only on sport package)
05+ brakes=Not sure, but they got rid of Brembo because of the high costs associated with Brembo messups and brake-jobs. Although I have found this to be a non issue. Essentially, you will only notice a difference if you track the car, and even then, you might get only a few extra laps on the roadcourse with the Brembo's before some brake fade is noticeable.

    04 Wheels=7spoke aluminum 18in
    05+ Wheels= 'BBS' style aluminum 19in

Lastly, the interior was slightly upgraded after 04.

Only regret I have was not having Navi, but I didn't have time to wait 2 months to order a 6spd, so I had to take the only one they had on the lot. Lucky for me it had every other option I wanted(including color).

Oh yeah, one more thing. The bose stereo is adequate(for a stock setup) if you are not really into audio stuff. I personally am doing some minor audio mods just to up the sound quality, but nothing major.

And when it comes to service, the guys at Infiniti have always treated me right and gone out of their way to make sure I am satisfied.

If you have any questions I would be glad to answer them :)

I forgot two more things. The differences between the 06s and the 05s are negligible, and the 05s are trying to be ushered out for the 06s. You should be able to grab an 05 for 2 grand under sticker. Just do some looking around.

Secondly, if you want more HP, there is a huge aftermarket for goodies. Some supercharger kits even come with engine warranty. And some dealers will even do the install!
