Can any one help me with some information please?
I have an event planned at the end of April; as part of it the cars will be taking the Eurotunnel. I have one customer booked on the event with a Ferrari F40. I have another customer with an F40 who has informed me that Eurotunnel won't take his car. I have brought Ferrari 575, 360 and Porsche GT2 across before. So why not an F40?

Does anyone know a reason why a Ferrari F40 would/would not be able to go on the Eurotunnel? I would love to here from someone who has tried/done it.
Thank you in advance for any help

Strange they wont let it on the train could it be the fuel tank being a bag type that concerns them.

Ask them. I'd be really interested to know the reason. I can't see why they can not let you on and then not tell you why

The last time I booked Eurotunnel you didn't give any details of the car, so did someone here ring up and say "Hey, I've got a super-exotic car, enormously expensive, with a really loud exhaust and rubber fuel tanks, will you take it?" :D

Seriously though, do you think it may be an insurance issue?

(Or they're afraid of the weight distribution in the train when everyone moves along the carriages to look at an F-40)

Seems odd to me, I've taken 328, 355 and 550 with no problem, as posted they don't ask car type when booking, fwiw I always go through the over height bit as they then load you in the coach area which is much wider :)

i have taken the 512 on a few times. if you end up in the car section, then the width and the clearance are both potential problems. however, you can specify that you want to go in with the bus section. there are no clearance or width issues in that section, even for an f40.

and if you dont want to mention what the car is, for whatever reason, then the way to ensure that you get into the bus section is to say that your car height it in excess of 2 mtrs, that automatically puts you into the bus area. if they complain once you arrive, you can always say that the 'big' car broke down and you are using the spare.....

American F40s dont have fuel cells. Dont know about the euro cars.

I think the problem is that the F40 is too sexy for the eurotunnel :)

    Closeshave,

I have a friend who regularly uses the Chunnel with his F40. There is no issue. I believe that the car will fit on the lower decks of the "normal" compartments, but most often, it is directed to the coach width carriages so that there is a suitable amount of clearance.

There is no problem with fuel cells, however if the F40 is LPG'd you'd have to take the ferry! LPG in an F40. As if! LOL :D ;)

    All the best
    Matt
