    Hello New York,

I was wondering if any of you guys knew of a reseller in Smithtown named Performance Auto Ltd. They have an F355 Spider that I have some interest in. Any information on these guys would be appreciated.

Also if I move forward I would ask Doug Pirrone's shop, Berlinetta, to do a PPI on the car. I have heard good things about Doug but would welcome any thoughts you guys might have.

    Thanks

Not much more information available only that they're located in Smithtown. The web site is www.performanceautoltd.com but other than some photos there's not much to it.

I did dig up a bit more info on the car. Apparently it found its way to them via Shelton Ferrari in Florida through a "middle market wholesaler". Makes me wonder why Shelton elected to wholesale it rather than sell it through their own dealership. I've dropped an email to their pre-owned vehicle manager to see if he recalls the car.

I appreciate the feedback on Doug. That confirms what I've heard elsewhere. I'm feeling a bit queasy about this whoesale thing but maybe a good PPI report and a shot of Pepto-Bismol will clear that up.

    Thanks again

Some dealers have to wholesale the cars after a couple of months, they just can't sit on the floorplan. It would cost them too much money to pay interest on something they couldn't sell.

    Good Luck to you.

Good point Diablo. Perhaps it's simply economics and nothing sinister.

I've also noticed that their inventory is all newer models so maybe that's just the market there. Hopefully they'll responsd to my email and shed some light.

Thanks again for the help guys.

I don't know how long this place has been around, I've been in L.I. 30 years and never heard of them before, but that doesn't mean much. FofLI could pick up and do the going over for you also, I dont know who Doug is. Let me know if you flying in to see this car, if I can I could try to meet you there and give you my HO. The car is about a 1/2 hour away from me.

Thanks Michael I'm always anxious for another opinion.

I'll probably contact someone tomorrow (Monday) about arranging a PPI. We'll see how things go from there.
