Can anyone please tell me if one emission test center is better than the rest. I bought my first Ferrari last week (2000 360 f1) out of state. Now I hear that I need to take it to an emission center and let "someone" test drive the car to make sure everything is ok. As you can imagine I am not to keen on this. Maybe I am over reacting on this. Please let me know if the MVD has given me bad info or maybe they don't do this at a specific location.

    Thanks, Eric

Eric, I bought a '92 348 in January out of state, and only had to drive it up, stay in the car, and have MVD visually check the VIN plates, and do exterior visual inspection. Don't recall even having to raise the engine cover. They wouldn't even LET me get out of the car (sign said stay in car). Hard for me to think a newer 360 would be any different, but I'll let others post if they know of anything different.

Eric, The first thing you will have to do is take it to an MVD office and get a Level One OSI( Out of State Inspection). This consists of nothing more than a basic VIV verification, nobody will drive your car. Next you will have to go to the dreaded emissions station. Shouldn't be any worries there either. They will plug their scanner into your OBDII diagnostic port and get a reading of your cars systems. Pay the extortion fee and then go get your car registered.
Congratulations on your purchase and drive it in good health.:)

Better yet, get the emissions test first and then you can register it while you're at the DMV for a Level 1. Nothing to worry about on a 98+ car. I go to the test station at 40th & Thunderbird and then the DMV at Scottsdale and Paradise Lane.
