    Hello everyone,

I was busy restoring my car throughout the past years and now it's almost in danger of becoming a nice car...
There are a few oddities that don't quite fit the described changes in design on 308-328.com

I was therefore wandering, if anyone has any Info on chassis #23435?

    Best regards

What oddities? In that timeframe, even the "year" of the car is bit squishy (although 23435 does seem to be 1977 or 1978 production). What is the engine family shown on the engine block at cylinder #1?

They made some fairly big changes on standard (euro) version 308GTS at #23265.

I do not have much information on cars that early but on the cars I have studied I think the biggest lesson is changes do not just happen one day. The day before it is one way and the next day its different. Ferrari simply does not do things that way. It may take months for a change to be fully implemented. Ferrari said at VIN XXXXX the wheel design changed. Well we know a number of LHD cars were built later with the early wheels and suspension and all RHD cars were built for some time with early wheels and suspension.

Interesting, the 155/78 OM indicates that it would be F106A021, but, as Brian indicated, changes are more of a "after this SN, this change may, or may not, be present" rather than "after this SN, every car will have this change". One clue you might check is on the back surface of the carb float chambers there should be some markings indicating the carb configurations -- something like 57, 58, 59, 60 would indicate that the 155/78 OM applies to your car. If you need a copy 155/78 OM give a shout, and I can post a link to get a pdf copy.

Guessing that you just mistyped here and meant 1978, but you didn't mention any of the "oddities" you've noted.

What were some of the changes made beginning with 23265?

The changes that I'm aware of (without more SPC research) are the electronic ignition set-up (although the points set-up was also still shown as possible), the carb configuration going to the 57/58/59/60 series (although not sure at which SN), and the rear bonnet using gas springs (although that was a bit later SN-wise).

I think electronic ignition was an option.

    Hi everyone,

thank you all for the interest and answers.
Yes, it was a typo and it is 1978 [and I was also wondering, not wandering - in this regard, the editing policy for posts is bit of a nuisance; besides the point however]. In fact I know it was first registered in April of 1978 and came from Auto Becker GmbH & Co KG.

One weird thing is for example, that the car does have gas struts. I'm aware, that those may not have been from factory, but been installed during its past life - although the mounts on the frame side look quite factory-like. Also there are no rubber stops on the side of the engine bay, for the hood to rest against - there is also nothing in the hood, where stops could make sensible contact.
