I'm checking out this F355; Do any of the F-Chatters here have any info on this one? Cars for Sale: 1995 Ferrari F355 Berlinetta in Highland, MI 48356: Coupe Details - 344825933 - AutoTrader.com It's priced pretty low, with the "all scheduled maintenance" done. Any help is appreciated.
I was thinking the same. I saw a 355 with over 100k for sale, these cars are meant to be driven. I was thinking of offering around 40k though or less. I bet it needs a major.
Hmmmm. 95. Red/Crema. B. 2500mi/yr. Yeah, try and buy it cheap while somebody else snaps it up near ask. (Do you detect sarcasm there?)
I actually feel it is priced right (or on the low side) given the condition, being 1995, great int/ext color and current major. My '95 is identical to the one pictured had 38k miles when I bought it for $9k more than the seller is asking a bit over 2 years ago. It has almost 50K miles on it now.
I tried calling him , no answer. The real question is whether the major was done recently or not. It doesn't say.
Ok he finally picked up. Seemed like a nice guy. He told me a $30000 service was completed where they pulled the engine out, and clutch was done 5k ago. I asked him to scan over the service records to me.... We'll see
This car has the potential to be a lot like my car which has 44,000 miles, is a 1995 B, and I've had it fully sorted as far as all typical 355 stuff. If I sold it the owner would get a great car and when the major came due no big surprises would be waiting. Not selling anytime soon though. If the seller of the above car had a $30,000 service done at a good shop then it's likely all the major stuff has been addressed... unless he replaced stock headers with stock headers and replaced stock cats with stock cats then that 30k would be mostly parts cost of course.
That's what I was wondering myself. Spending $30K to get back forty-something when selling it doesn't make much sense, but I've seen things here before that don't make sense.
Ok so I received the service records for it. Last major was done in 2009-so it's due. The thing that caught my eye is this note when it received a check up two weeks ago: Warning lamp is on Passenger side ECU and wiring harness errors stored. Possible airbag deployment. Attempt to clean and will not clear and recommend new ECU, harness and passenger airbag. Client declined. The receipt is covering up part of the first and second sentence tho. Also, this service was performed by Cauley Ferrari in Michigan. What do you guys think? I'm leaning towards passing on this one.
