I was recently informed that the company I work for is building a new facility in Waco Texas. It would not be impossible that I may have to spend some time there, or even could transfer there for a while. My question to you Texans is. Whats up with Waco? Good, bad, stay away, Ferrari friendly? General mind set of the area. Heck any imput about the area or surrounding area would be great. Thanks!

    Cheers!

    I like Waco (Way-co BTW).
Has a nice river that runs through it, right on Hwy 35 about half way between TWS and MSR. City fathers must have planned this. Baylor University. And close enough for weekend trips to DFW. Neat town.

Thanks for your post, much appreciated! Looks like not many Fcars in the "Way-co" area though?

    Cheers!

More than one would expect. People in the area tend to stay rather low profile.

Kinda hard to be "low profile" if you actually drive the car? But is this because of a high crime rate?

    Cheers!

Nope. You'll understand when you're there. Waco is a very conservative city. I like it a lot, though. I used to spend time there.

Our's is! Actually we live just north of Waco but do most of our shopping there and frequent many of the restaurants in town. One of the doctors in town had a Ferrari but never drove it to the hospital - Porsche yes, Ferrari no. There's always something going on in town.

The new Plant Manager for the new Facility is here today talking to people interested in going down there to get things going. I will be interested in what he has to say. Though I'm not so sure My Managment here will let me go down there even for a short while. I may find out something by the end of the week.

    Cheers!

I spent the four years of my life at Branch Davidian University ( Baylor). Correct, it is a conservative town . Lacking in stellar restaurants but many Chilis, Bennigans types. Only two hours from DFW and Austin. If you are not interested in Baylor athletics, there is not much else to do but look forward to leaving town.

Only driven through Waco, but seemed nice.

Since it is Texas though, you'll be welcome with open arms. :)

Cost of living should be CHEAP. It is a bit redneck, but nice overall. I once stopped for lunch there, had the 328 on a trailer. While in the restaurant, I watched another 328 drive by my car, checking it out. He was local, and turned out to be an F-Chat user.

Well, that seems to be a bit positive anyway. Depending if and how long they send me down there, will obviously determine if I bring the Dino or not.

    Cheers!

I'd say Waco is a nice place to live, not a great place to socialize. Inexpensive labor costs are driving businesses there. But not to fret, Dallas and Austin are a short trip away. Texas is not what you expect, having moved here from LA, I love living in Austin, Dallas was better than LA but not incredible. Waco is a bit small town-ish still but because of Baylor University there are some nicer parts of town. I guess the best thing to do is visit honestly, listen to the people who live there on what they like dislike and figure out if you fit.

It looks like you're coming from Washington, the weather will be a shock. It's hotter than Hades here. Though there are many more clear weather days to be had enjoying drives to the major cities that aren't too far from Waco.
