You might want to check out the Toronto Economic Development Office at
    www.toronto.ca/business_resources/econdevoffice.htm

Also check out the "Doing Business" portal for the City of Toronto at www.toronto.ca/business/

Depending on where you decide to locate in the GTA, try and find the Economic Development Corporation for the city. They should be able to provide you with all types of fun information.

And when you're willing to set up shoppe, you might want to contact the Canadian Consulate General in Atlanta for information on doing business in Canada. Only contact them if you're serious! Their website should be www.atlanta.gc.ca. Search out the Trade & Investment Department. Or you can get info on the ConGen at www.infoexport.gc.ca. Go to Offices in the US and select Atlanta.

    Hope this helps.

    Andrew

Lol. High taxes very true. We are a large scale wholesale jewelry company here in ATL and i have been thinking to expand into canadian market for a very long time. Last August we were at the trade show and the response we got was amazing. A jewelry wholesale selling gold, silver and diamonds to retail outlets would do good in downtown toronto. What do you guys think.

It's cut-throat, like anything else in TO....what kind of market niche do you plan to cover - custom jewellery or high end? That will determine your clientele, and consequently your location, your turnover etc.etc....Lot's of home work before you make the final decision...Good luck!

Walter to answer your question we sell diamond jewelry (rings, earrings, pendants) strating from $50USD retail priced (ofcourse we sell to retail stores). The line has lots of ladies jewelry and we do very good here in the US. The toronto show last year in august had a very good response from the customers. Our customer base is all over the US , US virgin islands, UK and quite a few canadian based retailers. So fingers crossed ill be in Toronto some time end of this summer. Plan is to apply our aggressive marketing and work tactics to the canadian jewelery retail industry and try to get a chunck of the market share. Lets see what happens.
