I am getting my information ready just in case my slot for the 458 coupe comes in.

I am looking at Corsa exterior with Beige interior. I am also thinking about getting the dash in Beige instead of the standard black. I saw that once on a 430 coupe and thought it really made the car stand out. However talking to a couple of people who also thought about ordering the beige dash but was told by their dealer that it would make the car harder to drive since the sunlight would reflect off the light color dash which is why 90% of the people have their dash in black.

Does anyone have first hand with a light dash board? If no problem, can someone tell me which option the beige color dash board would be (like maybe The Mayor?) Thanks

I drove a F430 when I was searching for my car and that particular car (07 coupe) did have a beige dash and steering wheel. I did have a glare but it was not that bad, I usually wear sunglasses unless it is very overcast while driving.

I would suggest looking at the Cuoio interior color as well. The Cuoio is a gorgeous color and not as light as the beige which will help with glare. Corsa Red and Cuoio is stunning to me.

Also, I would not do an all beige steering wheel in my opinion, shows a lot of wear and dirt.

Ultimately it is your build and YOUR car, you do what makes you most happy :)

My 458 has a beige dash board and it is fine and I live in Florida. There may be some of that as your dealer mentioned but it is not objectionable expecialy with sunglasses. Black on the other hand gets hot very quickly and is very troublesome in hot climates. Engineers call it black body radiation. Make your choice :).

Also the black will not last as long because of the extreme heat if you leave the car out alot in the heat.

From what I understand, you cannot order Beige for the dash of cars in the US (or Sabbia) because it reflects too much. I believe Ferrari thinks it's too dangerous and wants to avoid a legal problem. On the US 458 configurator, you can see it's not an option for a dash color.

You can order Cuoio though-- which is a bit darker.

Lee: Are you sure you don't have Cuoio and not "Beige"? My dealer said it was not possible.

I discussed Cuoio with my dealer for the dash and he said he would not recommend it, particularly because of the Vegas environment.

So, I compromised on my next order. The top is black and the bottom is beige. You sort of get the best of both worlds. It's a special order but the dealer can order it this way for you.

In photos, the Cuoio dash looks excellent but I have never seen one in person.

"In photos, the Cuoio dash looks excellent but I have never seen one in person."

I saw one in Seattle a couple of months ago, and it is stunning. I plan on using this spec, with CF between the two dash pieces, driving zone and LED steering wheel.

I would be more concerned about glare if I did not wear shades when driving, but I have to believe that there is somewhat of a non-glare finish on it.

Thanks guys for all the help. I will do more research and hope I will be able to see more Ferrari with other color than black in order to make my choice.

I collected a lot of photos of Cuoio interiors using Google images, many of them had Cuoio dashes. Just type in 458 Italia Cuoio and a bunch will come up. Also, you can search here.

I erased all my photos after I placed my order. Sorry!

This is the only one I have left. I added the red stripe in the seat to see if I liked it. It's obviously retouched.

I had a 94 512TR that had an all beige interior, including the dash. It definitely was a problem driving with certain angles to the sun. I know there were a few times where you could not see very well out of the front windshield, almost an opaque reflection. Usually it only lasted for a few seconds but it was more than annoying, it scared me a couple to times. Not sure when they stopped doing light beige dashes but I did hear that it was not an option anymore.

Couldn't this be decreased with a legal-limit tinted film applied to the inside of the windshield?

Don't profess to know about where you live, but most states including Indiana restrict any tint on front windshields, so the answer is no I could not.

It's technically not legal to tint the windshield in most states. Side glass and rear-- OK. Front, you're looking at ticket.

    I've seen it done though...

Very similar to what I plan, the exception being that I will have black center door sections (where the CF would normally go) and Cuoio center console with CF. Trying to figure out if the red stripe and red cavallinos would be too much with the Nero/Cuoio scheme.

Thanks to The Mayor, I did google 458 Cuoio and I think I like this interior.

What do you think about the glare with this dash board? Thanks

I'll be honest with you. I wanted it. My dealer talked me out of it. He said part of it was glare in the LV sun and part of it was re-sale. Some people like it, some don't. Everyone likes black. That's not a reason to choose colors but it may be something to consider.

He also said it would work better on a coupe than a spider because when the top is open, there's going to be a lot of bright light on the dash shining back in my eyes.

That made sense so I caved. I'm happy with my choice but I do think this is gorgeous!

I can tell you one thing. The first thing to wear out in my new spider will the button that says "Down". :)

I say go for it, looks incredible.

I have a black dash on my Saab and the dang thing has a glare. Hard to avoid sometimes.

I meet you half way - this is a picture of mine 3 weeks ago at the factory - I was going to go all cuoio but glare just pisses me off - so I went this route.

Very close to what I ordered only in Rossa Corsa. I ordered the upper zone and headliner also in Beige. I think the split dash makes it look thinner and also brings out the CF dash better than just black.

Oh, and the steering wheel on mine is on the CORRECT side...

Now, you've done it.... just when I was forgetting about it, you brought it all back! :)

    It looks fantastic though. Congratulations!

Did you get the CF air intakes "B" pillar? The photo sort of looks like it.

Thanks - Yes I love the split dash. I got the carbon fibre B pillar which was CERF on MODIS. Apparently getting the steering wheel on the right hand side cost me an extra $300k over US prices - so I think all in all yours is the better side!! I went with black leather headliner - but I don't think I took any pics of the headliner.

    What a RIP OFF! :)

I ordered the CF B pillar also. Not cheap! But, I thought it would look better with the all CF interior I ordered.

Enjoy the heck out of it, will ya?

Feel the same way, I think it sets off the split in the middle, but my dealer also talked me out of it on the Spider. And, at the Park Ave atelier the guy begged me not to get the two-tone dash saying the bottom strip was too shallow to support a second color and argued that the idea belonged in a FF or Cali, but not a 458. Who knows. I added the A-pillars and upper tunnel in Cuoio to get some color in my line of sight.

My "old" 430 allowed the beauty of Cuio with the elimination of any glare (Vegas and San Diego). Picture attached shows part of top of dash is black and does not distract from interior. Best

The Mayor is correct. No beige or sabbia top/front dash. I recently sold my 458 coupe. I had the top black and the bottom beige. Option code is DSH5. It is the same code as if whole dash color is specced if my memory is correct. They will have to do it as extracampanario request which is no big deal. Hope this helps. As an aside, I plan on doing same in spider once I get go ahead from dealer for final specs. It really looks great. See an old thread of The Mayor's for pictures of this option.
