    Hello there,

    My father imported a 308GTS in 1985 and stored it for many years. Only when he retired he got the opportunity to restore the car. Now that it's finished he wants to get it registered, but the RDW (government) say they are missing information. They want proof of the official production date and the only thing my dad has is the import document with the VIN and a typed production year. At that time the car was an accident car with no documentation of the Original registration.

    Anyone who can help me finding the original manufacturing date based on the VIN (numbers stamped in the car are the same as import document)?

    Your best bet is through a dealer or the importer in The Netherlands and get a document from Ferrari.

    We have same sort of requirement for imported cars in Denmark if the car is taken in from outside the EU. Here you need a statement from the national Ferrari dealer just as Brian states. The document is normally a one pager with basic technical information and it is not cheap. Five years ago i paid around 500$ for the service.

    If you are the owner, just send mail to the factory and you will have an answer the following day for free.

    This is probably the only free thing you will never have from them !
