    Hi all,

I was wondering if (and also: where) new copies could still be obtained from these books:

    Ferrari by Vignale (Massini)
    Inside Ferrari (Dregni)
    Klemantaski & Ferrari (Klemantaski)

All are books from the early 90s and I know it will be almost impossible to find those new, but perhaps some of you know more about them. I also would like to know how much the Klemantaski book is worth.

    Thanks in advance.

I have the Klemantaski book. I have seen it recently at a shop here in Toronto for $200 Cdn...(about $260 US..) .
    Great book. Hard to find.

The entire Klementaski Collection of work was bought by Peter Sachs, IIRC.

It is still available from the website. There are two titles, Klementaski and Ferrari, and a second book, Klementaski ..Himself, again from memory..

You can also purchase museum quality prints of any photograph. One of you Web Gurus find that link..

I bought Inside Ferrari from Motorbooks Intl. If its out of print you may have to go to a Vintage specialist....

Keep looking new copies are available.

I picked up TWO books last week on Miller that I had long ago given up hope..

Both were signed by the author, as well! :)

Thanks so far! Yes, I know you can order those photographs from the Klemantaski Collection, but I prefer to find the book first. I once had Ferrari by Vignale in my collection, but sold it. And you can imagine how much I regret that!

    Speedy 308,

I´ve searched on their website, www.klemcoll.com, but the book Klemantaski & Ferrari is not offerend on this site. Perhaps you meant some other website?

Do you have suggestions for Vintage specialists?

Final question: who is this "Miller"?

Great that you found those two signed books by the way!!

Harry Miller invented and built many early Indy 500 racers and was responsible for the engine architecture that became the Offy or Offenhauser engine. He also had influence on Bugatti design..early theorys of gasoline carburation.

His was a rags to riches to rags to riches to rags story of the early 20th century.

A Miller Leach Special ran the Indy 500 in 1921 and 1922. ;)

It's really suprising the website doesn't offer Klemantaski and Ferrari are you sure?

I'll check my email for Vintage Motorbooks web addy.

Hmm, ur right I don't see the title offered.

I have that "Eye of..." and it has many Ferrari photos, you'd better order the K...Himself" while you can, and I've read excellent reviews of the Peter Coltrin book..

Strange that they have no copies available through klemcoll.com is it not? Well, I have just send an email to chaters.co.uk, they mention the book on their site, so perhaps they can still supply it. Yes, I know about the books you mentioned above, they look very good to me.
Perhaps you know some more good online bookstores for older/rare books?

    Thank again!

Try Mr. Logan Grey at [email protected].

    I emailed him today...we'll see.......

You've read no doubt of the rivalry between Klementaski and fellow journalist Denis Jenkins? They were actually friends....Mr. Ferrari joked before the Mille Miglia that Klementaski had the advantage over Moss and "Jenks" because of the aerodynamic properties of his goatee....LOL!

    I own these 3..

The Vignale book appears on ebay every now and then... i'll keep an eye out for it...
Its located here, but its kinda expensive....
    http://www.collectorscarbooks.co.uk/shop/3468.html
    or here
    http://www.motolit.com/ferbyvigibym.html

The Klementaski book is fabulous!! a large format book, very well laid out and VERY well printed, showing off the photo to best advantage.
There is very little colour work due to the timeperiod....Interestingly, colour film was around but the technology to reproduce them in print was still either non-extistent or prohibitivily expensive... since he sold his work for print-purposes, as he put it, "a colour shot was a missed oppurtunity" since it couldnt be sold as such....
My fave of the 3.. tho being an artist i may be biased.. The Vignale book from a Ferrari-historian p-o-v is probably numero uno.

the Dregni book is unique in the fact that it follows the history of the factory itself rather than the usual "cars only" approach. Some great historical photos both inside and out. Due to the massive changes Ferrari has done to the plant in the past decade the book has become rather dated... so one has to keep in mind the date in which it was written... (Hard not to when you see 328s passing thru quality contol :))
On a personal note... i did a painting of a 4 cylinder engine from a MDTR.. and low and behold in an old photo sitting by the wall (looking rather drab and ignored) is the same engine. Kinda got a kick outta that....)
Again a possible ebay-purchase... becoming rare tho...

    good luck!!

Thank you guys for all the information. I´ll keep looking around for them.
Ferrariartist: yup, I know the book by Dregni is dated, I looked at the book one time I was in Maranello. If only I bought it at that time! I memorize the pictures of the facorty, quite a difference from what Ferrari is now!
By the way: I also have "Red Arrows, Ferrari at the Mille Miglia" and "Scarlet Passion, Ferraris famed Sports Prototypes" in my collection, great books!

Speaking of Klemantaski, I'm pleased to have two of his books from the Fifties in my collection, "Drivers in Action" and "Racing Sports Cars". These were purchased at a Book Fair in Seattle several years ago.

Yes! I´ve got a copy of the Coltrin book last week, and it is GREAT! I also took a look at "Klemantaski Himself", but that was a huge letdown, at least to me. I thought it were his memoirs and most stunning car photos, but instead it is a very personal book with mostly family and private pictures. Not many photos of cars, and that is what interests us most...
By the way: I found a copy of "Klemantaski and Ferrari" on ebay... :)
