    Hi everyone

First time Ferrari owner, first time poster.

Bought myself a 1988 non ABS 328 and I’m just loving it. The car has significant service history from renowned specialists but I like to get to know my cars and also do a little spannering on them.

I’ve decided to replace the injectors and bushings as the existing ones seem original and therefore 31 years old. I’ve made up an injector removal tool and they come out easily enough but I’m struggling to get the bushings out.

Has anyone got any handy hints and tips as to get these little suckers out?

    Any help is much appreciated.

    Thanks

    Richard

    Hi

They are exactly what I purchased too. I noticed a couple of the injectors on the rear bank had a fair amount of lateral play and Google’s around and saw these on YouTube.

I’ll try to do photos of the injector/bushing replacement as I go along but wanted to get all the information I could before trying to get the bushings out.

Any help would be most appreciated.

    This is the car.

Not sure if this helps, but you could take a bolt where the head fits into the bushing and slide it below the bushing end. I would fit some rubber gasket or something to avoid damage on the bushing end. Then screw a nut against the casting to pull the bushing out. A wrench socket of a good size can come handy between nut and casting. And don't drop the bolt into the intake. It could be difficult to get it out without removing the plenum.

Then, of course, there are tools available as I have read here on the forum. Maybe a miniature size puller tool from a hardware store might work or be a starting point to make your own puller.

    Hi

My preferred option is to remove the bushings without removing the manifolds. I've got a set of bearing pullers which I will try this coming week and let you know if it is successful.

TBH I've already seen his page and printed off a bunch of stuff from it. The bushing he has on his are screw-in ones that are quite easily removed with a socket. The ones on my car are push in ones where I need to get something below the bottom of the bushing to force it out. I'm obtained a set of bearing pullers so will try that over the next week or so. I'm trying to do this without removing the manifolds.

Right, they are pushed in on the 328. There is a small o-ring, maybe 2mm thickness. It is the force from this piece of rubber that has to be overcome.

Just by way of update I have now completed the injector and bushing replacement, had an interesting time and learnt quite a bit.

If anyone is interested I've done a pdf of my experience, hopefully it may help others looking to do the same thing.
