Injector removal advice?

phill i just did my injectors. take the circlip of and pull on the injector will come out as a unit. you must replase the O RINGS. are you going to replase the injectors with new ones? on my 86 TR there is a O ring in side the housing + the one out side big one.

 

From the pix, I noticed the suspension attach points. Do you have to disassemble the suspension to remove the engine?

phill if you going to replase all the injectors get the brass ones. i pay $260.00 USD for all 12.

 

Did you also outsource the O-rings? Steve M did a nice break-down for me of the three o-rings that need to be replaced, but using Ferrari parts sort of inflates the nice price of the Bosch injectors themselves. Have any specs or part numbers?

You will get the injectors easy Phil. Standard Bosch part for the nice shiny new brass ones. Even down here in Oz I only paid about $30 each for them.

You will need the 12 small O rings for the base (inside) of the alloy collets, and also the 12 fat O rings for inside the top of the collets that hold the injectors. They are cheap from Eurospares and it will ensure you get the right ones. There is also a laarger O ring on the outside of the collets where they hold into the manifold. Replace the circlips, they are abou 90p each.

All too easy mate.

 

Another few pictures that might assist. These little suckers can be really tight. Use a 1/4 drive deep set socket and sit over the stem of the injector and rest on the collet base from the underside (manifolds off) and simply knock them out. Really easy and zero damage.

Lubricate with rubber grease when you put them back in and fit the collets into the manifol before putting the injectors in.

The injectors come with little plastic hats on them. Lubricate the injector tip, shaft and area where the large O ring sits and then fit them in.

Be SUPER carefull that the sharp bottom edge where the spray comes out of the injector, doesn't snag on the little tiny O ring in the base inside the collet. You will be able to wiggle this one through by hand and easy does it, it won't snag. Then support the manifold and with the hat in place to look after the threads, gently tap the injector down or if you have a press, even better. Once located inside the fat O ring properly, they sort of snap into place. Then fit your circlips and you are good to go.

Leave the plastic hats in place until you are ready to fit the fuel lines to avoid getting any dust or crap in the new injectors.

bosch part no # 0 437 502 047 $21.57 per injector. ferrari part no#113975 now if this ferrari part no match with your ferrari part no on the injectors your OK. I have a 86 TR. yours is a 90 TR i do not know if this 2 cars use the same injectors.

 

Sorry, I meant do you have a source and specs or part numbers for the o-rings? Looks like someone else recommended Eurospares so I'll check that out too. The cheap price of the injectors has had me wanting to do this for months, but wasn't certain about getting the rest of the pieces to put it back together (o-rings mostly I guess).

 

Use at your own risk, but I have:

101031 = the large o-ring between the bushing OD and the intake manifold bore
ID of 101031 o-ring (free state) = 17.3-17.5 mm (new part from US non-dealer F part supplier)
cross-section diameter of 101031 o-ring (free state) = 2.5-2.6 mm (new part from US non-dealer F part supplier)

101030 = the small o-ring between the bushing ID and the injector nose
ID of 101030 o-ring (free state) = a tad less than 9 mm (new part from US non-dealer F part supplier)
cross-section diameter of 101030 o-ring (free state) = 1.7-1.75 mm (new part from US non-dealer F part supplier)
