I recently bought a 360 (May 2012). It was suggested to me that I should consider having my injectors serviced. The car has about 23,000 miles on it. Any advice on this?

I recently bought a 2004 360 with about 23,000 miles. The check engine light comes on occasionally and the diagnostic for it showed a lean fuel air mixture on one bank of cylinders. It was suggested to me that having the injectors serviced/cleaned may remedy the problem. Does anyone have any recommendation on this?

Fuel injector pintles get dirty with carbon deposits and can cause poor spray patterns and small leaks. Having them ultrasonicly cleaned will cure the sticky pintle and poor spray patterns. When they are serviced they will also replace the injectors small pre filter which can get small deposits in them.

I'm not sure if this will fix your particular issue but it may help. Check to make sure your Mass air meter is functioning properly as well.

You can also check the quality of your spark plugs if the tips are very white then you certainly have a lean condition on that bank.

You may have a bad o2 sensor as well. Not sure if a standard OBD 2 reader will pick that up on the Ferrari.

What was your engine temp gauge reading when the CEL came on?

Thanks for the note Hangarsixco. The temperature gauges have been reading normally.

I think you may be asking who cleans the injectors.

www.rceng.com is a great company out of California. There are many companies in the US that offer cleaning services. I personally prefer RC Engineering as I’ve dealt with them for many years and I trust their work. Cost is not cheap $25ea for Top feed injectors; which includes flow pattern testing, ultrasonic cleaning, new pintle caps (If applicable), new O-rings and a pre-filter.

Then they retest them and measure the new flow volume and spray patterns.

You will also receive a flow data sheet with the return package.

Nobody. Until your 360 hits 100,000 miles plus it's a waste of money. If your check engine light is on its not because your injectors need cleaning.....

    Dano,

My 430 recently had an engine lean condition on one bank and subsequently started misfiring on multiple cylinders in that bank. Although this can be caused by several things including an intake manifold leak, in my case it was that the right side fuel pump is crapping out (and is currently being replaced). Different car, but sounds like it might be a similar problem.

Your best bet is to find out what triggered the check engine light. If it is emisions-related then an OBD2 reader as hangarsixco suggested will tell you the diagnostic code. Otherwise you'll need to get it read out with an SD2.

By the way, to check the O2 sensors themselves you don't need an OBD2 nor an SD2: a simple voltmeter On the single wire) will let you read the volts. 0.5 is good, 0.1-0.3 is lean, 0.6 - 0.8 is rich. It will vary as you accel/decel; if it does not vary then replace it.

Yes but you should also be checking for switch-time, and for that you need a 'scope not a multimeter. Also, it tends to be the heating elements that fail on those, >30 ohms or open circuit then replace.

    Dano360NC,

This is the error I was getting!

Simple test I did was to spray carb cleaner where the injectors are. Sure enough, Bank 2 (drivers side) changed idle when spraying by the fuel rail.

I will be inspecting the fuel injectors and replacing the o-rings (two o-rings, one upper and another identical lower per injector).

What I was really looking for was a vacuum leak. I also replaced all the crimp style clamps with a worm type clamp for the MAF and surrounding to be sure.

    Hope this helps!

The best way to clean your injectors, and is pretty much, is AFTER your motor has warmed up, make sure you take it to red line flog the hell out of it.....this helps keep your injectors clean, your valves from building deposits, and your combustion chamber also clean.....

Definitely replace all the one time clamps with worm style, and make sure there aren't any vacuum lines that are deteriorating.
